I know one thing, PG exists because schoolers exist and help seekers exist. Lets not change the relation we share by introducing restrictions based on no of posts..!

The primary idea you and I had are the same. Not similar, but same. The only difference I see is that you call it a 'sticky post' and me a 'thread descriptor'.
By the definition I have understood, a post in a thread is part of the thread, either the thread starter, or in continuation, in sequence. In such a condition, a 'sticky post' actually breaks that serial quality.
Rather, by definition (and a VA expert may please elaborate) a descriptor is something that describes some other thing. Hence, a 'thread descriptor' describes the thread. Put that in the locations you gave (personally, I perfer the lower one.) or another one - right below the Thread Tools bar, and it fits the bill perfectly.
As such, I agree totally with your idea - I have just changed the phraseology a little, and as you requested, expanded on it.

Its a sticky post and thus need not be in a order or continuation at all. Since its Sticky, it has to be placed in such a way that it escapes no one, and mind you thats the purpose of this post. For me, the sticky post will just contain info about Cut offs - Once Declared, Dead Lines, Results etc etc which are really important and generally have been asked umpteen number of times making the life of a B schooler at the respective thread little rigorous.
Whatever the game may be, looks like we are on the right track..!

@Apurv, Mahip:
I think that keeping posts on sacred threads like "IIM final call getter list" and "All I wanted to speak about CAT" moderated shall help prevent spam.
These threads are sacred, and must be cared for.

my first post on this thread
this problem was really there in my mind for so long
we on pG have reallly long threads going upto 50 60 pges ...
now its really impossible to read it at one go ...
so can we have some mechanism wherin u can go to required pg [eg : pg 11] in a thread of 50 pg
i knw the fist n last pg r easily accessed ...but really .. rite now i was going tru some old thread .. i left reading at pg 8 ....
next time i had to move frm pg 1 -->pg 3 --->pg 5 ----> pg 7---> pg 9
theres no other way round ....... ( i guess so )
is very busy with college work :(

This suggestion might have been popped up before too, if not; then it's certainly important!
The search forum threads link is present inside the forum area whereas it would do a lot better if it was put up on the main home page ( or just a link to it :- clicking it would open the search pop up or the advanced search page, whichever is easier!)
This would not only benefit new users but as well as existing users; reason being the forum page is quite heavy as compared to the "light-weight" home page.
Attached the image.

P.S. Should this post go into the ||al thread of rukksss????
