the point is that even if u make the GD/PI section private, for whom will that be private...? As regards online scenerio, there is no clause that differentiates between a prof and a student because the id is made on the basis of an IP address and an email address... Anybody could register here and there is absolutely no means to identify the person's occupation... The copyrighting issues would still be there because even if open to members, there is no way to prove that a particular member will post or not post the contents put up here, somewhere else too....

I think that the only reason for making PG private or brining it in the reserved domain would be to generate revenue....

I feel as such, PG has earned substantial accredition and should continue as such...

When the profs are sneaking as students there is very little we can do..
its tough to make private like premier member or something of that sort..
I think profs need to maintain the ethics of not making pagalguy as a -ve thing in interview/GDs..

I dont get it....so what if profs access this site?? what harm does it do? i sure as hell dont see any prof (who's got nothing else to do with his time btw) giving some kinda wrong info to aspirants....
On the other hand, there are hundreds, nay thousands, of ppl who get all their info from this site, without being members. I, myself, used to regularly access PG for abt 4 months b4 i registered.....Nopes i think things should be allowed to continue the wat they are.....

The forum could have a section dedicated to "members only"
and by members the criteria should be the avg. number of posts per day (say 0.2 or so could be fixed as the figure)
Firstly, this will ensure contribution from junta who are interested in PG but rarely contribute be way of posts.
On the flip side, people might start spamming to maintain their posts/day ratio above the cutoff

Hi all,

The issue of people stealing from this forum and posting it on their own sites is serious enough. But dealing with the situation in an extreme manner by making the forum only for members, or worse, through paid subscriptions,
is not required according to me. On the other hand, there should also be a kind of copyright to the material and experiences posted here. I suggest the mods and admin to see whether the Creative Commons funda can be used. This will not restrict the forum's growth and spread but will still maintain some rights of the original posters.

Hmmm...Making registrations compulsory.....I don't see a single compelling reason thus far...Profs accessing the forums...Hmm..whats new in that....It just got public People ripping off...Thats much more serious....And that needs the community's involvement in minimizing such stuff....Post back on the forums on the sites/groups that are ripping off PG.com......But yea, mebbe after we touch the six figure mark, we can consider going the invite only way.....OR after starting specific sections where specific resources are updated on a regular basis (like, say, the quant a day thingie).....But frankly I dont see any point in making the forum registration-only just coz Profs read the forums and base their opinions on it !! Profs and the B-schooling system are just as equal stakeholders as the aspirants

I think we must be more careful and aware of people who are taking material away from PG. But bringing the topic back to the main issue I still feel we can make it private just for the sale of privacy of thoughts... and not becase professors will read them.. i dont mind profs reading my posts at all but there are some who just read from PG and the website doesnt get the credit for the material it provides... CAuse if we were to allow people to read only after registration we would get a lot more members and since one registers he will defnitely have the KIDAA to post some time and let out his opinion or contribute to the forum.. DO you guys get the flow now.. I think i was not very articulate in my first post about the benefits of the "privatization of PG.com"

pranav...from security point of view,ur point is valid,but u knw PG is d site ppl look for all kinda info..at d time of results esp,d links r updated on PG first and den on d individual sites..so in d issue of public interst u cant make dis site only for members.
i dun think dis is justified yaar,just becoz v r members here,v cant ask for special treatment..PG is for evryone,and i think aftr coming so far and get so much populace taking a step like making PG accesible for members only,wont b good..wat say?
But i do agree abt d privacy issue of d Gd/Pi xperiences thread...
