@ pulsating pulchritude
I am not at all against PGG (refer to my posts on this thread itself , 2 in nos.). But then.......
Quote:
fine..thats your opinion entirely and you are entitled to have it. however, don't generalise it to the public at large
How can a person express his/her opinion here (express being the key word) without writing it !! If I am entitled to have an opinion then I am fully entitled to express it! Isint it? Cos without saying it , how will others know how I feel?
Quote:
the day i have put up my yahoo id on my profile i get guys adding me all the time, wanting to "chat" with me. as one guy friend from PG told me, "hey, we try coz we feel that 90% of the times the girl might respond and humaara kuch chance hoga". that happens anyway over here..
Isint this "generalization" and a more strong opinion ?? I think this "hamara kuch hoga" mindset is class XIIish. Not every guy is like that and then not every gal is a straight jacket.
Quote:
basically you guys are cheesed off coz you have been denied something, probably for the first time in your privileged lives, and you aren't liking it one bit.
I really hope that "probably" here is very very operative cos denial of privilege is NOT a privilege for gals only.Guys also enjoy it !!
Quote:
and yeah, most of us girls here are among the lucky few who were given the opportunity by their families to be able to stand up for themselves in a man's world and become independent.
I "opine" that the above quoted is now becoming passe.Agreed it was and still is the case normally but that attitude is changing drastically and the man's world is becoming an ancient term.On a lighter side , how would you justify TWO sitcoms exclusively based on women(Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives) and just ONE(The Man's world show;that too on AXN !! ) , for men ??
This is no personal "attack" as U might be inclined to think.I am supportive as far as PGG is concerned cos it might prove to be THE hangout place for gals like PG has mainly become for MBA asspirants. Peace.

according to dictionary.com (for lack of present ownership of Oxford English Dictionary or Webster's guide to English),

express:
  1. To set forth in words; state.
  2. To manifest or communicate, as by a gesture; show. See Synonyms at vent1.
  3. To make known the feelings or opinions of (oneself), as by statement or art.
  4. To convey or suggest a representation of; depict: The painting expresses the rage of war victims.
  5. To represent by a sign or a symbol; symbolize: express a fraction as a decimal.
  6. To squeeze or press out, as juice from an orange.
  7. To send by special messenger or rapid transport:
generalise:
speak or write in generalities [syn: generalize] [ant: specify] 2: draw from specific cases for more general cases [syn: generalize, extrapolate, infer] 3: cater to popular taste to make popular and present to the general public; bring into general or common use; "They popularized coffee in Washington State"; "Relativity Theory was vulgarized by these authors" [syn: popularize, popularise, vulgarize, vulgarise, generalize] 4: become systemic and spread throughout the body; "this kind of infection generalizes throughout the immune system" [syn: generalize]

i used the term generalise in my post meaning that don't apply it to the entire population as a whole. i never stopped anyone from expressing their opinions here. i do it, and so does everyone here have the right to do so. and as voltaire said, i may not agree with your opinion, but i'll fight to death for your right to have it. secondly my point about yahoo msgs from guys was something wasn't restricted solely to my own experience..i have seen, before my very eyes, my friend blocking such guys..and i did not generalise it to the entire body of male PGiites..i have loads of terrific guy friends whom i met here..but you cannot deny the existence of a few bad cases. however, i never intended to malign the entire male population PG..hell i know of a few girls too who have obsessively pursued my guy friends here.

as regards the shows you have mentioned, they may be targeted at women..but have you ever closely analysed their content or target audience? the TA is bored housewives with nothing to do, who lead humdrum lives sitting at home and need topics to gossip about as well as some form of mental release disguised as entertainment. the content is about women, but their lives revolve around the men in their lives, without them they have no identity. it may be a chick-show..but it isn't a good representative of an intelligent show aimed at today's intelligent woman.

and as you said..peace!

Hi,
BTW have we ever wondered why there are so many indian sitcoms focussed on women like kunki, kahani, etc...
That's because women sit at home and watch tv. Don't hit your proverbial leg with the more sharp than proverbial axe.

Munira.

Woman is the companion of man, gifted with equal mental capacity.
If u want anything said, ask a man.
If u want something done, ask a woman.
The loneliest woman in the world is a woman without a close woman friend.
So we have... www.pagalgirl.com/forum

Cheers to all the ladies!

PS: Why not update the pagalgirl site with logo n all on Women's Day on 8th March!

Re: Make way for PaGaLGirl! - 04-03-2006, 11:37 AM

ahh..
so much hulla balloo over PGG..and frankly i dont see the reason in it...
if the gals wanna gossip(ok that may be a bit crude way of putting it) or talk or just help each other out..then why so furore over it...after all as cyndi lauper sang "girls just wanna have fun"....
now for the actual purpose of the portal...well i am not that qualified enuf to say whther it is of much help...but then why forget a point..not all memebrs of PG are memebrs of PGG..no i did not go on a member searching spree..i am assuming this for a simple fact that not all girls agree to a point..just like we boys agree to disagree..so to put it plain and simple..if someone here thinks that PGG is a waste of server memory and blah blah(irrespective of their gender)then that is their opinion..if someone beleives the other way round..then that too shud be respected like the previous one...for that matter..in a number of interviews that i have given i came across ppl who said PG is all crap..ppl boast there..write false percentiles and no sensible value in it..well..i was angry but then justified it for some time and then went ahead with my gd/interview..so there has to be contradictions about any new thing..like allwin said..ppl doubted his rationale in starting PG....the same ppl wud now call that idea a good one...

so why justify??(hell even i am doing that..)
and just for everyone's knowledge..i love watching DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES....not because of felicity huffmann or eva loghoria..but for other reasons..which if i start writing shall be labelled a spam..so not much of it..however the second season starts tomorrow...
p.s.-PP,u have misquoted me...i did not say that..or did u take it to be that??

-kush

Re: Make way for PaGaLGirl! - 04-03-2006, 11:44 AM

Oooooh! Lotsa action here. But then you can expect the same when the thread title has the buzzword called "Girl".

Finally the Arsenal-fan, Miltond makes some sense. PagalGirl (I dont know why ppl call it PPG!!) looks more like a Femina mag.

First of all the purpose of the forum ?

A bunch of girls thought there's no place on the internet, where they can discuss girlie matters. One reason is Pagalguy.com members discuss only about MBA or guys-thing like Football and F1. Someone pls tell me how in this world is Football a "guy" thing ?? There are hardcore footie fans in places like HK, Singapore et al, and if Indian girls prefer watching Salman Khan's antics instead of Wayne Rooney's screamers, what can we do ? In the last 3 years, I havent seen a single post by a girl on "Football Club". So does that categorize Football as a Guy-thing ?

So far so good. Forum started, with a "No Guys Allowed" board outside. And girls started to discuss all those rants they wanted to, in the last 20 years. Cool. No problem..

Then comes this thread. Basically to tell the whole world that the Forum is up. And the typical-Indian-dominating-male, as The Holy Editor likes to put up, sees it as a discrimination. Why ? Because guys are not allowed on Pagalgirl. Holy Cow! What a logic!
And then rounds of gender-bashing, and 100 posts later, no one knows whats going on. <Cut the crap>

I am all game for the site/place/space for girls. Also I like the way girls tried to defend it, LOGICALLY and not emotionally, the way Munira did.

The PagalGirls will lose steam pretty soon, discussing make-up tips and jewellery selections. And then they come to the hottest topic around - Managing relationships and "Why Guys can never understand Girls" and all that. But what will you discuss there ? Topics will get monotonous, for you'll lack the view of the other side of the coin - The Guys' view. But if you think you can pull it off without the guys, then All the Best!

Ok Whatever.

Simba,
Maybe you can take this as a sincere suggestion:

Please make the site Private, where only members (read girls) can view. And if you disagree, pls let me know why!

Being a member for 3+ years, I know the way guys react, when it comes to sensitive issues. Even I think, when will they ever grow up. And I think most of those guys hv had failed relationships/dumped by girls et al.
But branding every Guy in India is a Traditional-Dominating-Male ?!

The Final Cut.

I guess unhealthy relationships are the root cause of all these bashings. A healthy atmosphere at home, wont make one frustrated, and a healthy relationship with a girl, will make you feel the world is indeed a beautiful place.

All the Best Simba
