Dont kick him.. he does good work and if we have to kick him then lets give him a share of what he raises. and i think we can lower the price from 2 Bn to $ 1 Bn also cause it wud be enuf to start a news channel on our own with that

I have not gone through all the posts in this thread, just posting my suggestions:

• Common Advertisers, Revenue sharing: The Channel could come up with enhancements in its Advertising Plans (or maybe additional plans) and earn a premium on its advertising rates if the advertisers get a space on the web (PG site) along with the regular video/ticker ads. This may be more easy to achieve in case of low priced-limited period ticker advertisements. If the channel is earning X rupees in the regular plan and X+Y in the new plan...then PG and the channel can share Y in some proportion. It's a win-win situation for both parties.

• Content Sharing: PG will host a separate News section (particularly news relevant for the MBA aspirants), RSS feeds to be taken from the channel website. Also, content on PG can be used for developing Career oriented programmes (Career related queries, CAT and related exams, GMAT preparation, MBA gyaan etc.) for the channel. PG junta can help the channel in getting the program right by providing valuable feedback and discussing on the forum.

• Updates on Programming, Audience for Programmes: The channel can have a dedicated space for advertising its own programmes on PG (we can charge them at discounted rates). Also, most channels need quality audience for their programmes (for instance NDTV regularly sends invitation to IMI students to take part in their programmes like We the people and The Big Fight and getting the audience is a big pain for the channels)...our junta can register with their profiles on a separate section on PG and the channel can pick and choose the best audience mix from the list (Contact details will remain hidden, only name and profile will be visible to the channel).

I'd agree with u. Coz PG would definately lose its zing if its gonna tie up with an all out news channel. Most of us B-school aspirants would find it quite useful to have something on the lines suggested above.

Besides the surveys these channels carry out would find a very willing audience.

My 2 pence

There is one thing special about PagalGuy.com. It is read and religiously followed by the upcoming youth of India. Students in college and a huge number of software professionals(Who aspire to do an MBA) form the bulk of the puys .. As such PagalGuy.com can easily find out what the youth of the country think about issues of national/social importance. Any news channel can use it to its advantage.

Pagalguy.com in turn can attract more users and a more diverse audience with a tie up with a house hold brand like a TV station.

I wud go to the extend of suggesting a few News channels for this purpose:
1. CNBC TV-18 (My all time fav)
2. NDTV
3. CNN-IBN (I hope the name is rite)

Is the question which news channel ? I would say Aaj Tak or NDTV or CNN-IBN simply because I watched them the most.

What ? I would say (a) Interviews and gyaansessions with maibaaps of exam preps - say a pendayal taking up queries on CAT quant (b) Opinion polls and stuff on general things - kushboo controversy etc - maybe show what people feel/think (c) Eyeopeners like the MICA stuff or the XLRI scandal last year - empowers PG a lot more if they have a solid media backing.

Somehow CNBC seems more in line with what we are.

As for the contents :-

• Let the channel have a program on (Corporate) Social Responsibility. To begin with, they can cover the CS initiatives in various cities. As the programs gains tempo, the employed PG members can chip in with what their resp. companies do towards this issue. Since CSR is a 'in' thing these days, it'd be beneficial for the channel to program it as well.

• I rem'ber CNBC tieing up with TIME to dish out CAT prep tips. The News channel can do the same with our forum. And we can show them our record of having 100 perc since our inception to prove our case.

• The Channel can have programs wherein Mgmt from various B-schools answers questions from prospective candidates. Our members across B-schools can chip in here.

• Since PG.com has had some exclusive coverage of various b-school meets/functions, we can provide this as content for a program which deals "B-School Happenings" (no such pgm exists, jus thinkin aloud ) over the year.

• Have programs on GMAT, Part-time MBA, Distance Learning, MDPs.

• And in the end tell the News Channel "Now you have just managers watching you, with us you'd have prospective managers watching you too"

• But yeah...such programs should be telecasted on weekends only

PG rocks Tie up with a news channel will bring PG into the eyes of ppl and they will realise how PG contributes by motivating the ppl for management education.

My suggesstions

• As PG knows lots of management graduates passing out from the top notch B-schoools, prepare a show where these management graduates will share their thoughts with the general public about the b-schools and its life.
• Probably a quiz show like The Challenge
• Bring in the industry people and question them on what they need from an MBA GRAD
• Interviews of the head from ims, time, careerlauncher, ptindia etc. HOW TO PREPARE FOR COMPETITIVE EXAMS

These are my suggestions for the enhancement of our PG FORUM
