Unhappy Site has become very sluggish - 24-12-2005, 01:13 AM

Hi Allwin Bhai..

First of all, congrats on your admit... Writing this post to highlight a possible problem...

After the move, I've realised that the site has become very slow... Whenever I right click a link and try to open it in a new window, it takes helluva time to load. Earlier, I used to open 7-8 windows of PG at one time aaraam se. But now, it just seems like eternity before the windows open up. I think that the snow is playing the culprit here.

When I load the homepage of pagalguy (www.pagalguy.com), things are perfectly fine. My CPU% shows 0% used, once the page has loaded. And I get the feel of the same old pagalguy. But that's where the story ends. Once I get into the forums, the pages become sluggish. It takes a lot of time to even scroll down through them (I'm running a system with 256MB RAM.. Should be decent enough...) MY CPU Utilization now shows 100%

I like the snowing n stuff, but then I would prefer speed to snow anytime of the year. I bet i'm not the only one who's facing this problem. A small question, is there any way that the snowing be made optional, i.e. ID-based. People who are running on low-end and mid-end systems could turn it off and get their high-speed experience back.

I want my old PG back.. Please help...

Kunal.

I agree with you mate, uploading posts has become painfully slow, inspite of a 512 kbps DSL which I have. Also, the snowflakes appear to be getting bigger, just the right mood for Christmas!! We're in for cold wintery days ahead!!
