Beta testers required for PG Instant Messaging Service

Hey ..count me in too...
hmm...this is why i think i can help the cause...
1) worked in a computer networking (troubleshooting) environment..

2) got VmWare on moi pc..so can use Instant Messaging on multiple OS..(including Linux, if ya got a linux version)
3) corrupted loads of OS till now and also customised many
3, 4) troubleshooting is a everyday job , so reporting them in proper technical terms is childs play including screen shots !
anything else ya wanna know ?!?

5) quit moi job now..so jobless ..yipee..PG is gonna gimme a job !..jus kiddin..
6) comments are free..so u'll get loads of 'em !

Except for the Broken thingy i did everything else..shesshh really got soo used at reinstalling XP that i got byheart its CD-Key .
But whats fun in installing/re-installing ?? The real fun comes in hacking .Presently working part time as a "LInux Kernel Hacker".
Used GAIM,Trillion also.
i personally use GAIM for Messaging

mostly i used them for educational purposes but in general i use either XP or Gentoo Linux.I have VmWare and Pear PC which helps in instantanious switching of OS.

hehe just finished my 5th sem and have 1.5 yrs of wonderful engg life ahead.Who dunno about an engg free time . I quit my part time job recently and will be prep for CAT.May be i will be lil busy prep CAT from May.

till now i used Yahoo,Gtalk,MSN,AOL,MIRC,GAIM and TRILLION.

Yahoo - simple and good interface.However i dont like it's pop-ups telling me i have some mails in my inbox.i like its emoticons very much.

GTalk - simple but superb.An ideal mesenger i can say for non-geeks.

AOL - same as Yahoo

MIRC - ahh geeks paradise it is.But its mainly due to the way IRC servers work.

GAIM - One of the great open source softwares.Great in functionality but can improve a lot in User-interface.Almost one shop stop for Messaging in Linux.

TRILLION - one of the worst interfaces i have seen.But there is soo much to tweak it that i ended up spending 2 months on this and the result..yippe my self designed Messaging beast .i like this tweaking capability very much.

Overall - all messengers fall under one of the two categories

1) for non-Geeks - easy to use and non-tweakable like Yahoo,GTalk,AOL,MSN
2)for Geeks - Bad interface but highly tweakable GAIM,TRILLION

My ideal messenger - Interface of GTalk with the functionality of GAIM

What we're looking for:

1) Technically sound junta who've installed/reinstalled/smacked/hacked/broken their computers and softwares.

no hacking experience, although I've installed/reinstalled a gazillion times

2) People who have access to a wide range of Operating Systems


I've used Win98, 2000, XP & flavours of linux like Suse, Mandrake n Red Hat..presently have only Win XP ...but will be installing Linux shortly..anyway, I also have a few Live CD's of other flavors Ubuntu, Knoppix etc which can be used to test the software at a moment's notice...

3) The ability to put down into words- the exact issue

I don't suppose that will be a problem

4) The ability to screenshot images and post it

no probs there either

5) People with free time . Since this is a major project for all of us, we are looking at people who have loadsa time to dig out all those bugs

bahut free time hai spend hrs surfing everyday..might as well make myself useful

I've used Yahoo, MSN & Gtalk before ..presently have only Gaim installed for accessing all my accounts

PMs will go to accepted junta and will contain all the requisite details and a brief history of the project until now . The PMs are gonna be sent early morning tomm .. ok..just after midnight and before I goto sleep

I am extremely happy that you folks have taken this seriously, because it allows us a chance to bring only seriously serious people into the fray

12+ hours to go ..and then you can get to start testing

Um..in the meantime may be I should get a bug reporting software into place eh?

hey guys reinstalling its not bi\g deal itslike there is nobdy else in whole colony other dan me who can install windows ...i do it for me once evry 15 days
