Hi all,

Well Business 2006 BSchool rankings seem to have manipulated numbers too early and too much. I mean ranking the likes of Symbiosis ahead of JBIMS, SP Jain, NMIMS. And that too without specifying which Symbiois institute?? I mean why do they rank IIM A 1 thn IIM B 2 and thn IIM C 3, and Symbiosis 4? They can rank IIMs as No1 , Symbiosis as No 2 , **** as no 3 and ICFAI as no 4 rite without specifying the locations as demarcated by these institutes or the Institute name?

Symbiosis has SIBM, SCMHRD, SITM, SIIB, SICSR, SIMS. Do the rankings suggest all these institutes at number 4?? (Or is there anothr story here )

Kindly raise voices as this as known to all of us is unfair. And magazines are just taking all of us for a ride after filling their treasuries.

Such idiosyncrasies have alwayz been there in the rankings of BT..or for that matter any magazine dude...U need to decide the rankings on your own and set ur goals accordingly...

a prof from a college said dat the more they advertise in such magazines,the higher the rankings they get...so check out the previous business times magazines ull definitely find a lot of symbi ads...

btw who even cares bout such rankings yaar...

As all of us know tht these rankings r of no use and are manipulated a lot.. I cant believe any Symbi coll. to be above IIML,XL, FMS, JB in any of the individual criterias leave alone the collective rankings.. We all shud use our common sense.. More than these magazine's rankings, I believe the coaching Institutes' rankings a lot more..

Ya but dnt these idiosyncrasies need to stop. I recently had read on a blog regarding this guy who did his MBA frm a so called top 20 Private Institute in Pune. He took a bank loan of Rs 4,00,000. Today 3 yrs down the lane the guy seems to be spending 12K per mth only from his salary in repaying the EMIs and thts not all, he is gonna do this for the coming 5 yrs. So much for those who did get gullible enough to read the rankings, believe it and then jump into a poodle of debt so early in life. I mean the guy could have always thought of FMS Delhi, JBIMS Mymbai, DMS (PUMBA) Pune or UBS Chandigarh?? But thn since these are not in the top 20 of many,.... i guess a lot of them are misguided..

the 4* ponytailed school got in top 20. full page ads did the trick i suppose. any way its perception based and not based on facts. also the sample size is too small. then nobody knows who are the sample. is it random or chosen by schools themselves.
none of IIM's participate officially. info/data abt them is sourced from mkt.

Yes essentric. I agree .We dont care about this rankings now. Thanx to PG or any other resource which helped us .

But there are thousends of students who belieeve these rankings true & become victim of this. Myself was very much impressed towards some institutes which are having higher ranking . But I realised the fact only after I joined PG & reading rashmibansal's blog.

Guess the EYE EYE PEEing stuff was coming post the expose stuff happenning so I guess they bought themselevss In again.....so did Symbies after the Pillai Leavig ship they needed some face saver....
Anyways there are atleast 4 colleges in Delhi alone which are better than All Symbies.....
but theres requirement of Comparison Between Colleges like IMT,SIBM,NM and FMS,IIFT,JB..XL now how to get a legit uinbiased ranking/Statistics here is a tough game which The Magazines won't do....
Me thinks,if this stuff can be bought why can't the rest of the Edit Material on Business Today....and other stories for BT too are under the scanner for me atleast....

Hey this Pillai stuff is probably the biggest spot on Symbi. My God whts happnd wid tht guy is something probably no one evr knows. Dunno if anyone could actually tell us. Coz if ppl respect this guy so much, wonder why is he not thr now. I have evn seen whenevr SCMLD threads are opened, symbi ppl just flood it with their hate written on-liners about Pillai or othr B-schools. Meanwhile people have to just see the difference..See Symbiosis alumni in Business Today...My God they are nothing at all speakin tht they strted in 1983. In fact there is this B-School in Pune called Department Of Management Sciences(PUMBA), University of Pune which was established way back in 1971...PUMBA has better alumni than Symbiosis. Why so much of hullaboo thn??
