Lightbulb Pgdba V/s Mms - 12-07-2005, 10:33 PM

hey guys and girls,

there is something u knowledgeable ones need to enlighten me about.

i am already persuing a pgdba course from a recognised management college.

mu score in cet is 146 and my rank is 210.

i have spoken to a number of ppl about whether i should go in for mms.i believe i have a fairenough chance to get into a good mgmt institute.

but my problem is that ppl have told me that mms syllabus is outdated, the colleges where mms is available tend to give stepmotherly treatment to the mms students and even placement wise pg people are preferred to mms ppl.

how far is all this true? and if this is true then why have over 35000 ppl taken cet at all?

my kind request is plz help me asap

bruno

well , u got to consider the options like ... 2 yrs more if u opt for mms , the kinda bschool u will get thru mms and how much difference is there between that and ur current bschool . mms is outdated like most courses but still people take it for obvious reasons like lack of other courses and oppurtunities . pgdba and mms courses dont differ that much so u got to weigh ur options and decide ... it would be helpful if u could tell which college ur from.

hey bruno

mms and pgdba is both same...just that one is degree and other is diploma
in short both are management programs
what really matters is which college u r doing it from
since u said ur pursuing ur mba from reputed instutte than dun opt for mms unless u can get through jbims wch at the score of 146 you wont be able to

so jus chill n complete ut mba from ur curren bschool

all the best

MMS is onli good if u get in top rated institute, but than also it dependz, bcoz u already persuing pgdba from recognised institute. Now if Ur pgdba institute is more rated as compared to MMS institute than plz dont opt for MMS.

Yes thats true, MMS syllabus is outdated. Placement and treatment also dependz on institute. This is bcoz whn they have there own PGDBA course in institute than they take more concern for Pgdba course and so tend to give stepmotherly treatment to the mms students

Why did 1.5 lakh ppl take CAT whn onli seats are in thousands. Why do ppl appear for pvt university whn they are not recognised. Why do ppl go for II#$, Rai university, etc whn all are aware that they will fall in trouble in future.... Why why why ?????
Are buddys its ppl and there views and there wish. After all MMS is more valuable in Mumbai as compared to Pgdba course in mumbai. Bcoz there are onli few institute in Mumbai whose Pgdba's are of top quality and well versed.

Hope i cleared ur doubts

MMS v/s PGDBA - 13-07-2005, 01:45 PM

HI GUYS,

all u junta debating abt wat 2 pursue whether pgd or mms here r a few points that will help u out:
  1. mms is ofcourse an outdates course as the content is provided by the university and no 1 the university has the time 2 change the contents with changing need and trends. Doing an mms is useless unless u do it frm JBIMS b cos Jb has a lot of visiting faculty frm the industry coming in to teach the changing needs and updating the students on the latest trends and scenarios.
  2. colleges who hav mms and pgd give mms a srep motherly treatent b cos all the guidelins as far as mms is concerned (most importantly) fees is laid down by the mumbai university so in a coll where mms student pays 50k on an avg per annum a pgd students pays 1.25 lacs p.a. so u can make out the revenue earning course is pgd and not mms and tht explains colleges attitude.
  3. mms is a dgree while pgd is a diploma.

DONT LET FAILURE GET 2 U R HEART AND SUCESS IN 2 U R HEAD
