dude, last time around, it was only 35 odd questions. so, even if it might be horrible, it was mercifully short n painless. definitely, the cream of horrible GK sections should go to IIFT. multiple answers with the 5th option as none of the above

well, according to what i saw last year, there were differences galore.

first, i think, both papers need different approaches. while CAT is more of a speed game, XAT paper does tend to give you more time to think and write.

second, both have different cut-offs criteria. while CAT is more or less standardized at the 55+ levels, XLRI had a twist last year. they dint call anybody with less than 95percentile in maths. the other two percentiles were not really considered. so, u had loads of ppl with 99.6 + overall percentiles who dint get a call because of a sub 95 percentile in quant.

last, the essay. should be the least of ur concerns actually. they wont select on the basis of stupendous essay and a sunb zero percentile.

Hi.. Did I read someone say that we have to submit the form within 10 days of the purchase of form ???

Its supposed to b sent within 7 days frm the day of purchase of the form...Though I dont know how seriously this clause needs to b taken...

Ohho bhaisaab...

Its so easy this XAT registration procedure...

As soo as u r thru with the entering of personal/edu details, etc, u need to submit the form n then a page comes on which will give u the XAT ID n pswrd...Apparently u'v reached up until here...Bas phir kya, on that very page, near the bottom end u shld b able to find the link that needs to b clicked...The XAT PAP or whatevr its called needs to b downloaded 1st n then the p'out needs to b taken...Its in the pdf format, so u need to have the acrobat reader...

Arre par hum aapse ek baat kehna to bhul hi gaye! What if I have logged out w/o clicking that link? When I login again, it doesn't show me the same link. That's why I was asking. I'm attaching a pdf file though. Just tell me, is it the same form that needs to be filled? If this is not THE form, can someone send me the correct one?

Hmm, so u didnt take the p'out once u got the XAT id...Thats the prblm I guess u r facing...I dont myself then what is to b done...Coz I too tried to login jus to c if the XAT PAP (or whatevr they call) is there...But its not...But then, since I had taken the p'out earlier itself, it doesnt matter 2 me...So then, u'l prbbly have to call up the XL guys to c what is to b done...Cldnt download the thing that u had asked me to...So cant comment on that...

But 4 the rest of the guys, this is vital...As soon as u register for XAT/XL, take the p'out of the form...Dont logout n then leave the p'out to b taken on another day...

There was a perceived 95 percentile cutoff for XLRI in quant last year and available facts support it. Most of us here were above 95 (except one or two). VA cutoff(again anticipated cutoff) was somewhere around 85 perc and GK did not matter much as after clearing other two cutoffs and decent overall cutoff(above 90), ppl got a call even with 50-60 percentile in XAT.

Till last to last year essay used to be one of the discussion points in interview. Last year no one was asked at all about the things written in essay. Reasonably sure that essay does not play a role in giving interview call. XLRI considers other factors like educational background, academic record, work experience etc along with sectional cutoffs while giving calls so there may be some cases where high scorers did not get a call which is prevalent in CAT also.

As far as speed goes, ppl might have felt comfortable on this front last year because of GK where u need only 10-12 minutes to go through 35 questions so remaining time could be utilized in other sections (last year sections were not timed). I ahd a score of about 54 and percentile 98.20. Highest in XAT was somewhere around 80. This was very different frm the level of scoring dpplsed to do till last to last year. Because of vocab heavy paper till last to last year, scoring atleast 40-45 in english alone out of 80 used to be must. Now with RC heavy paper things are different. XAT pattern ahs undergone a lot of change in last 2 years and yes it is closer to CAT now as far as overall pattern goes.

Tooo bad!!! Both being my bulwark, any futurologist or palmist or physiognomist wil tel dat my chances of geting thru XAT r positively bleak!!!!

Still..my fighting spirits r high.. (I don no y i feel im a descendant of sum Spartan!!!

Wel Divya n other Xavier folks, can u enlighten as to how is FIN at XLRI n XIMB??? I kno XLRI is renowned 4 HR....

i am late in giving my response to xat whose pattern was to my liking....last year i had appeared xat and scored a whopping 99.83%tile in gk which shot up my overall %tile to 97.8 with 79%tile in eng and 91 in quants...........with removal of gk i am stressed out as i have to give more stress to quants.....ximb has got a 2/3rd quota but 50% of the students are outside orissa students...i doesn't adhere to the quota strictly and mind u ximb is a damn good college better than kjsomaya tapmi and even imi as placements have been excellent if u consider its location bhubaneshwar.i had a call from xim could not convert though students with as less as 70%tile converted...the percentile for cutoff oriss domicile was 70 %tile last year..........
