wait till monday,i think we would get the letter by then[may be they are sending letters only to high profile students and i may be left out].anyway u got till june 3rd so why there is no rush?plus if you remember you got TATA,INFY,CTS next to symbiosis so thats always last on the list.

anyway whatever they say,i cant think of getting hold of kv.kamath of icici or janaki ballabh of sbi.i can only get hold of branch manager.i dont think any such high profile person would be handing out their v.cards just like that unless someone know them personally.if i know them personally i wouldnt be here.

regds,
anush

well said anush...

but then they expect wonders from ppl.
i think the regional managers or branch managers will do.....(but their letter says otherwise)
how can u get to the GM of a company......without an approach :

n they will hold a viva for it..n then evaluate u...
u need to get 60% marks in this to pass...

Sounds to me like a database building exercise for their placement departments!! Now the approach suggested by Allwin is good. If you dont know anyone in the banking sector, then you take the tough route out. Try the local chamber of commerce in Haryana. I am sure there will be one, just look it up in the telephone directory. Speak to them there, show them the letter, and jot down the details. If you know anyone in the tax department, phir to puri chandi hi chandi hai!!!

Getting visiting cards of GM's is tough, but the easy way out is to take a blank visiting card from the receptionist. These cards dont have names of the officials - only the name and address of the company, and you or the receptionist can write down the name of the GM on it. At the viva voce you can explain that the GM's are wary of handing over their cards, so you attached these. They cant penalise you much on that account. Moreover, attaching the visiting cards serves as proof you had visited the company. While working in corporate sales, i got away with this excuse!!!

yes ankita i think this is a good idea..u can ask any of the company officials to give the company seal on their visiting card i hope that'll do ..anyways u try ur best and get a hold of a few of ur batchmates and make a group and start off on ur mission..
best of luck

if i were in your shoes, this is what i'd do...

there would almost certainly be some sarkari power/petro company's office where you live like state ntpc, electr board, ongc, hpcl. the local head of these companies is usually a person of GM/AGM level.
do some backgnd reserch on 2 of these companies ... and go to their office and say ... i'm so and so coming from symbi for an interview for my college paper.
take a couple of snaps while u r there.
guess that this should work :P :P

for the third ... i'd try for a private company ... though i cant figure out a way for doing this

i think its more about students interacting with ppl from different walks of life otherwise i dont know why they would want a report after interaction with muncipality school principal\teachers and construction workers.

public offices esp state ones will take ages to get any info.i would suggest..

for banks-general managers, one should approach LHQ.
place where project was done is another place to try
hotels such as taj comes under hotel industry and its an easy place to get info.

Folks, am not part of the Symbi crowd, but one of my friends received the same assignment and is wondering if this IS A TRICK PLAYED BY THE SENIORS? Wouldn't it be a good idea to call up Symbi and crosscheck?

Just my two cents(or paisa). :-)
