Exclamation NMIMS MBA in Capital Markets - 10-06-2005, 01:26 AM

Well I was surprised to find that NMIMS was starting a new programme in capital markets(www.nmims.edu) with 30 seats .The date of the exam is on 16th july and the centre is only Mumbai.
So what r u'r opinion regarding the course, competition etc etc.If anyone has some knowledge please share.

Atleast for me its an last ditch opportunity to do a MBA.What do u think?

Hi,

I feel this course has more than one problem

1- One requires to have a minimum of one year work ex in FINANCE( They have not mentioned anything else like insurance, banking etc that means they are looking for hardcore Finance guys)

2- It is very specialised field and I feel in INDIA we are not mentally prepared to choose a specialisation before getting in a bschool. So if one feel thatif one feel that it would be OK working with Broking firms, Mutual funds companies etc then one can apply for it.

3- Also NMIMS is not that great nowadays as it used to be in mid ninties. and also other institute in mumbai( Indian institute of capital markets) offering one year Capital market programme is not going great guns. placement is just about average.

4- The timing of the launch is also not satisfactory. I fear that they will struggle to find the quality students. and they say MBA is also about your peer group

5- I asked one of my friends studying over there on phone and he was also not very enthusiastic about this programme.

6- one need to to go Mumbai for GDPI and entrance so it would be around 5 day trip if you dont belong to mumbai. so better look for CAT next year.

Hope it helps

Regards

Dude NM is one of the premium MBA institute of india. Any course it offers goes through a well documented market research to understand the requirements of the markets. Be sure you will get the best.
