hey guyz!!
i completely agree with optimystix.... wat we shud be looking forward to here is the 2 yrs where we are gonna evolve and learn a lot...
as far as placements go... if the plaecmnts were really pathetic we shud haev worried a lot... but we have seen how welingkar has risen in the past few yrs and it can only rise further......
i understand some ppl are worried abt the job profiles..... but hey the Bskool is only going to help u launch yr career.... how long u can keep flyin... or how high u fly will be dependent on yr abilities....yr potential and yr ATTITUDE...
so i think we shud take 1 step at a time... and look forward to the gruellin first yr (as said by our seniors)...
cheers
Jay.
p.s. optimystix... u thru at sibm naa?/ if i am not mistaken!>? Thinking of a new signature................. | | | | | | | |

Dont bother abt salaries...PLACEMENTS HO JAAYENEGE. | Let me make a clarification here....5-6 students at IIM's may have got at a 1,50,000$ foreign job or a 15 lakh job in India, but even the rest of the IIM students have walked off with salaries around 7-8 lakh, which is a good starting salary and way better than b-schools having a dismal average salary of 4 lakhs. So please dont run down IIM's and other A Grade institutions(like MDI, SP Jain,XLRI,JB,FMS,IIFT only) by making callous statements like only 5-6 students get good salaries. And as far as PLACEMENTS ho jaayenge is concerned , i guess placements will happen even if you do an mba from Babasaheb Gawde college too, but i guess the students should definitely stress on the profiles they are getting, which can only be known to an outsider from the kind of pay-packets that are being offered.

Plz guyz,...DO NOT BASE YOUR DESCISION OF ACCEPTING OR REJECTING AN ADMIT BASED ON THE SALARIES OFFERED.
i know that it is extemely difficult to decide upon your B schools, especially when you are at the cross roads of your career. But it is important to understand that a B school experience gives you a lot more than just salaries.
1. As already pointed by someone earlier in this thread, the salaries quoted by even the IIMs are not what all 120 odd students get. It is just 5-6 students who end up getting the dream salaries that are hyped by the media.
2. A B school does a lot more than just placing you in a good company. The entire B school experience and the experience of working in a team and creating synergies tranforms your personality and your thought process.
3. These are the learnings that eventually make or break your career...You could start with a 7 lac per annum and be stuck there for 3-4 yrs or you could start wiyh 1.5 lac per annum and grow to 8 lacs in two years...It is entirely upto you and what you can make of what you learn at your B School.
Welingkar is a gr8 place to be in........and I am not saying this coz it has 100% or gr8 placements.....I am saying this coz I have seen the transformation the welingkar experience has brought in few of my friends.......
Dont bother abt salaries...PLACEMENTS HO JAAYENEGE.
Just go ahead and enjoy your B school experience and try and learn as much as u can..
Enough of the GYAAN.

You missed the entire crux of my post.
NOBODY WAS TRYING TO DISREGARD THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION AT AN IIM OR ANY OTHER GOOD B SCHOOL. THE IIMs RULE IN THE LEAGUE OF MANAGEMENT EDUCATION AND WE ALL AGREE UPON THAT.
The remaining students who get good salaries dot get them for their own credibility and potential.
Nobody is gonna give you a 8 lac ob if u screw up ur ppt or interview. The difference is most students at these top notch B schools realise the importance of making the best of the two years they have and learn as much as possible...not surprising they end up with good job offers.
As far as job profiles are concerned, if you think it is the B school that matters, u r wrong boss.
B School brand name does make a difference ,....but more than that, a profile is about the fitment of ur potential and calibre into the profile of a job.
And if you can prove that u r worthy of a particular xyz profile...nobody can stop u from getting that job.
BSCHOOLS ARE MEANT FOR QUALITY MANAGEMENT EDUCATION..AND SHOULD NOT BE MISTAKEN FOR A PLACEMENT AGENCIES. Quote: |

If u read my post earlier, it was never intended to run down n e institution. Just one question, who says u cant apply and get a 20L job immediately after your mgmt. irrespective of the institute??
What i meant to say was that only the top ppl get the high salaries tht are reported by the media. I do agree tht u shud stress on the profiles but are u sure all 300 odd students hv an idea of wht they exactly want to do??

hi adi,
urgently need ur help on the following
1. Is the course fee for P-EBIZ; same at both bangalore and mumbai or there is a difference.
(am asking this bcz I have been intimated the fees for pgdba is 1.25/year at bangalore which is a good 50k/year less than that of pgdbm mumbai)
2. Do they send the offer letter by courier or normal post.( I have received the offer thr' the
email, however need a hardcopy for applying for loan).
3. Are hostel facility provided in bangalore equivalent to mumbai. further does the bangalore campus have a gymnasium and other recreational facilities simmilar to mumbai. and most importantly what are hostel charges(rates for both ac and non ac rooms). Are independant rooms availaible?
thanking u in advance
best regards
