hey ppl.. need ur help regarding a ciritcal decison which i need to make
got a final call frm ximb.. ( i had a whole lot of calls including xlri , fms et all ?)
failed to convert them..
and now finally after much perserverance got a cal from nanyang. bschool singapore...
so im in a dielemma which one to choose
my background completed engg in 2002 2+ years exp in IT andITES industry.. would most definetely specializie in finance.. in case i join ximb.. and if i go to to nanyang( il lbe doing a general mba) (((coz iintialy i was under the impression for a finance specific course. they would reject my application)))) my goal
to bbei n investment banking. .probably some 4 years down the lane. i love equity analysis and im looking at m&a jobs too....
so would likely study for a pursuing a course in finance.. pros of singapore 1)global perspective 2)international exposure 3)diverse student community 4)singapore is the fiannce hub for APAC which is advantageous towards my career interest.. 5) it is a 1 year course cons 1)cost ( around 9+ lacs).. which im sure i can recover in 6months.. 2)im not sure abt visa.. after job n stuff 3)the indian growth story is not happening in singapore guyz please . i need al lur help.. would need to make up my mind b4 22 april thanks in advance...!!.

Ooops......I think I spoke too soon!
But it was kinda unnerving.....I accessed this thread through the Chit Chat forum, and after posting the reply, I was taken to the "Other Exams" Forum!! I was like....."HAIN??? Where did all these weird threads come from????", and also "Oh Golly, So many out of place threads! PG's got a job on his hands NOW!" There are 10 kinds of people, those who can read binary and those who can't.

i am giving u only some inputs .it is u who have 2 decide
the word foren ki degree has lost its charisma after manmohan paaji went liberal in 1991.u r telling us that u wana be a investment banker in ur life . for that u need a finance degree.nanyang is not giving it to u.ximb is. so is ur dream , ambition , focus of life so vulnerable and weightless that a simple ticket (opportunity to singapore) can shatter it.i am not questioning nanyang one year degree and its value in singapore but i am sure it will not take u to a place where u wana be.why risk finace knoeledge. moreover ns is giving u a one year degree that too in genral management .it is u who have to decide whether u wana be a guided missile with guidance in ur control and target ur dream or u just wana end up as cargo bomb and let opprtunities decide where u go. take a decision on which u dont have 2 regret after 20 yearsof life. u will sure get money inlife but is it ur dream?it may be but i believe investment banking can give u ample.

hi dude
i happen to know ex dean asian institute of management so i'll right away put across his words. see in nanyang and NUS the orientation is not towards placements n is leanin too much on academics. While talkin of singapore being financial hub it is also a centre for b-school like insead, NUS and many other quality b-schools.While XIMB is one of the fine b-schools in india which can very well provide u an entry into financial sector. Also if u r not gettin ny specialization in finance why will the guys at financial hub of singapore will prefer u over specialized finance guys of ASAP

Hi,
well im XIMB alumni (alumni since a month actually)
neways.....see firstly Nanyang will give u international exposure and has gud industry and international B school linkages....
Which means acads wise it is really gud....
experience wise also excellent...
BUT then if u look thru any international rankings of B Schools.....Nanyang and NUS both will honestly state that they dont have 100% placements......
As had been said earlier they dont work towards u getting placed......
But if u r interested in Marketing Nanyang.....if excellent....reason is in singapore tradin and other marketing cos. will absorb u...but u getting general MBA...i don't know how gud will it be.....for gettin a job with Finance cos.
AT XIMB if u select ur courses in finance properly...ur sure to get a finance job and slowly move into investment banking as u gain experience....atleast this is assured....and placements is also assured.....and placements of gud quality....
Return on Investment is guaranteed at XIMB.......
I wont say much about my insti......have spoken a lot earlier....honest placement figures state the story so far...rest is for u to decide.......
chalo cya and all the best.....
Gaurav
