hi sidharth,

after reading ur post, i think that u shud opt for IIFT and give CAT another shot next year...the reason why i say this is because with ur kind of %ile, i think it was more a matter of luck than a'thing else that u cud not make it to the IIMs this year...u can give it another try from IIFT nexr year...join some test series to keep in touch & for practice...i m sure u'll make it...and even if u dont, u always wud have IIFT to fall back upon...

well, this is wat i wud have done had i been in ur place...rest it is ur own sweet will...

according to me you should decide for once and for all........normally it would be OK to take the CAT again but in case of IIFT....if you wanna do Foriegn Trade then you should be more than happy with IIFT.....if you dont then dont bother with IIFT at all.....

my ranking for instis

A B C ( thats to add weight to my opinion)
FMS , SPJ ( coz of their alumni strength and work ex profile resp.)

L , Nitie, IIFT, XL, I, K, MDI, JB
L I K are making progress thru brand equity ( plus work ex for I K)

NITIE, IIFT do have specialisation in one field and they are pushing it to other sectors too
why not XL above them is becoz of location disadvantage as well as low industry interaction
( TISS is best in terms of industry interaction and 4+2 schedule but it is not a B school)

MDI /JB are progressing/ declining but these are more of ME TOO kind and I do not expect them to reach to A B C status in near future

Even though PG doesnt promotes B school comparison based on individual preferences, I found it to necessary after IIFT thread being converted into B school comparison thread. I hope further discussion on the topic will be held at relevent thread.

Well first of all congratulations to all those who have made to any of the B-Schools.....
Just one point I would like to add here.....once you are in B-School probably you wouldnt pay that much attention to B-School rankings as you people do now as simply it doesnt matter!!!
Just look out whats ur career goal and if you have multiple calls then decide if the insti u r targetting fits in..as no one knows tomorrow we may have a total new ranking coming out by anybody...
As for any doubts and queries regarding IIFT i would be happy to respond.

abe bewakoof tum research to karte nahin phir pagalguy pe sumit sharma se poochne aa jaate ho ki iift achha hai ya iit delhi. arre koi magazine hi utha lete (outlook, business week jaisi) ya cl, pt, time wagerah se hi poochne ki zahmat utha lete. yaar tum kaise kaise log ho yaar, u do not deserve to be in MBA coz u do not know the realities of the world!
