Dear friends, I have got to choose from one year spjain vs TWO year spjain MBA vs TWO year IIFT IB-MBA. I have got around 9 years of work ex. (2 years at L&T mumbai in product development & 7 years at BHEL bhopal in Purchase i.e. MM & import services dealing with DGFT/Customs etc.). Kindly any of you suggest me cost benefit analysis regarding joining any of these institutes or even not joining any of these institutes. my risk taking capacity is limited as i would be reaching 29 this august. my current gross salary is around 5 Lacs. I plead especially to the alumini of SPJAIN & IIFT to comment & guide me in selecting the right institute. Thanks in advance. Vinay Parashar BE-Mech GSITS Indore-1996 batch | | | | | | | |

Dear Vinay,
I think 1 year course is suitable for you. Though the cost of education will be same for you, in terms of opportunity cost you will gain a lot (min. 5 lacs.) The thrust is more nowadays on 1yr course with lot of exp. (thanx to ISB, IIM PGPX though next yr.)
I am with nearly 15 yrs. I too am trying for the 1 yr. course. (I don't have the dilemma because I was not even called for the PI )
In 2 yr. course, the freshers are predominantly more (though max. exp. may be 4-5 yrs.). So the course also must be developed to take care of their needs (my guess). The second yr. mainly covers practical aspects like internship, corporate exposure, which may not be needed by ppl like us!
Additionally, the classmates will be of our age & exp. which may help us in the long term!

i think the one year course suits those with 5+ years experience. Most 1 year courses cram 80% of the stuff in the 2 year course and if ur confident enough u should be able to manage the extra load and wont need the remaining 20% taught in the 2 year course.
The 2 year course wins overall because it gives a young student a time to develop a broader perspective.
