That was a great post Bindesh. thanks a lot for the info. Just a few more concerns:

1. u said plcmts 85% with guys with 2/3 offres. how come others (15%) left with no job.

2. Selection procedure says that they will again conduct a test. Can u tell me what all did they ask u in this test and the GD/PI thereafter. I had a very bad experience at IIIT Gwalior MBA in 2002 when in the PI they asked me artificial intelligence. So, is the PI at IIITA of tech sort or HR sort of.

3. They say that test is on 6-7 june. Then approx when will the final admission be done.

whats your overall feel about the college.

u r always welcome aseem...

well...talking abt the 15% remaining..

instead of %'s let me talk in numbers...as of now out of a batch of 41 v hv 34 guys placed. out of remaining 8, 2 are sponsered candidates, so they are automatically out of the placement process.
now the remaining 6...out of these 6 one of the guys has decided to go for Fellowship( just as a matter of fact, he has calls frm all the IIMs). it leaves us with 5. these are the people who either cudnt crack the organization they were interested in(its not tht these guys had are ny less capable...its just matter of the time and luck), or they were not interested in the profiles offered...
and ppl having 2-3 jobs...well intially guys sat for a compnay just to secure themselves by having a job...and later on they used their dream option to sit for the company they wanted to join...


now the selection process...
the test will be 60% technical and 40% aptittude (quant etc.)
the GD generally has general topic(mostly current affairs)....
and interview is a mix of HR and technical...
the good thing abt the selection process is that every stage has some weightage and the final selection is based upon ur overall performance in all the 3 stages(i.e the test, Gd, and PI)...so even u fair decently in one stage and do well in remaining two...u'll get in.

if the test is on 6-7th june..then ur result will out by 8th or 9th june..

moving over to general feel of the institute...
well...the first time u'll enter the collg...u r bound to have just one word on ur lips ..."awesome".
the architecture is simply beautiful.
apart from the architecture...the facilities(i.e the computer labs, the library) are quite good, with round the clock connectivity(and everyone being alloted a dedicated system, and u r free to use it 24 hrs ...). then there are a host of activities gng on...v hv different sporting events and cultural events...and every semester v hv a dance party.!!!

the only thing concerning me is the faculty...barring one or two teachers...remaining are relatively in experienced to handle a course like MBA(and being a neww course here...its kind of expected too). but this is compensated to a large extent by the guest lectures which we hav...so v had guys from TCS, Naukri.com, Fabmall, ISB Hyderabad.

all in all the "general feel" is quite good...

Can u just provide us the breakup of the academic background of the students.
I am BA-Economics and I wonder with such smaller batch size what no of seats will be filled by BA/BCom guys.

well...the authorities arent having ny fixed ratios in their minds abt how many technocrats and non-technocrats they r going to have in the batch...

as far as batch size is concernd...u guys might b aware tht the no. of seats hv been increased frm 45 to 60....

since the course is MBA(IT) and then v also hv a technical test, so those with technical backgrnd do hv a little edge over the non-techs...
talking abt my batch v have around 70% enggr's , around 25 % are BCAs or BIT or BIS. but....we do have two commerce and 1 science grad among us..

let me assure u tht ppl presiding over the selection process will b more interested in ur aptitude for MBA (just forget IT for a moment)and...y u want to do MBA(IT)...instead of a simple MBA...
its very clear that ur background wont prove to b a obstacle...

infact our jr. batch has more diversity....in terms of academic backgrnds as well as work-ex....so the authorities are trying to make it clear that
"the course is for everone...and not just 'Technocrats' and that they themselves want diversity in the batch"

last candidate admitted last year had 82 percentile and the maximum was at 95. this year it is expected to rise further.
