2day i was having my iit delhi interviews reached there a bit early to say very early at 7'o clock proceedings strated 4m 8:10. i was in the first batch to have gd topic was quite simple "DISINVESTMENT BANE OR BOON" gd was very disciplined noise level was minimum and vrone got airtime to speak xcept 2 of them who were not willing to speak may be........... there were 10 guys in our batch and 6 of us spoke frequently so it was a nice one



after a long wait interview took place and to utter surprise there was no technical questions and no traditional pi questions

i was asked abt my qualifications
about my prejudices
about my aim
all time fav y mba
hobbies and the list continues


thiough interview was over in 13 mins


i think it was a decent outing and the senior guys helped a lot
they were really supportive hope i make it

anybody who has finished with their interviews plz tel whether we r going to have group task or is it a normal GD..and wat abt interviews.....technical or hr mostly?

Hi guys,

Had my gd/pi today. I was in morning 9:15 batch.

Profile : 4th yr elec &comm engg from NSIT. decent acads

GD: Almost everyone hears that IIT gds are chaos and becomes fishmarket but my group was really good. everyone was given a chance. I spoke 4 or 5 times in GD of 15 min. Our topic was Reservation or Reconcilation. I didnt know much about the topic (esp abt reconciliation) but it didnt matter because no one knew much about it either. so much of it revolved around reservations.

PI: There were four heavyweights sitting as i entered. For a sec i thought i am going to be knocked out but as soo as i settled one of them left the room. (phew 3 to handle instead of 4, made me feel better)

P1: so you are in 4th yr of.....(looking at resume)

me: ece engg NSIT

P2: Dwarka?

me:yes sir

P2 Ok whats your B.tech project

me: blah blah blah............
(after 4 5 ques relating to BTP )

P2: Ok tell me about ozone depletion
me: knew pretty well......

P2: Global warming

me: knew.........

P3: why MBA?

me: blah blah blah......( had already prepared it)

P3: Ok tell me whats the finance commision

me: (abe ye kya hotoa hai. planning commision to suna tha ye finance commision kya hota hai)

P1: (having seen me answerless) Have you heard of it. Do you know it exists?

me: Sir, is it different from planning commision?

P1: Yes

me: Sir I dont know exactly but if you allow mw a guess, It decides the financial policy of our country and it drafts the Budget which was announced by Mr P. chidambram.

P1 So you mean budget which chidambram gave was drafted by them

me: Yes sir i guess (P1 and P2 started laughing)

P1: Do you know what exactly is finance commission .

me: sir as i said i only have the vague idea.

P1: from where did the vague idea came from... newspaper or where?

me: (abe yaar tukka mara hai. why dont u understand) sir from my friend

P1: So are u sure he is right

me: No sir, thats why I said that i was guessing.........

P2: whats the fuction of RBI

me: couldnt exactly tell in the convincing manner, but somehow told whatever little I knew of it

It started on the bright note with me giving answers on Tech, ozone and depletion and ended in not so good manner with finance commission and RBI.

dont know what to make out of that.

Hi all, had my gd/pi at DMS , IITD today... mine was 10:45 slot..and I was called for GD at 2:30 pm...phew..long wait ..watching the presentations twice

GD was not fishmarket according to my group members.. but I felt it wasnt very good , as a lot of us were trying to speak at the same time.. topic was "IS corporate ethics a liability to corporations" ..everyone was trying to speak so loudly, I could hardly speak..I spoke only twice that too in the midst of ppl talking on all sides... so

PI: 3 profs...pyar se made me sit on a sofa and all..
this one prof started out with tell me abt urself, why mba, what is importance of polymers (i.e. my b.e. stream), what are the neccesities for team work, is a family a team... in between his phone rang and he went out... and he was the one asking all the nice nice stuff..
The other profs were prob eco oriented ppl..asked me stuff like what is the funcn of IMF, exchange rates, how many companies traded stocks yday (I had no clue!!!)
and I told them I dont know much about all this....dont know what they'll make of that..

Asked me abt other calls I have, didnt let me finish..asked me b/w spj, iitB and iit d , what would I choose honestly... I said SPJ.. they wanted honesty , I gave them honesty..

That's abt it.. the organisers were really sweet and helpful...U guys were great, eddy, tarun, hitesh, and the others I dont know their names..

hi i had my gd/pi today at IIT D.was in 10:45 batch but gd began only arnd 12:30 and pi at arnd 2'o clock neways it was ok as we were being conitnually informed by the stud volunteers of dms....so first of all HATS off to all the studs at DMS...u ppl r doing an xcellent job...twas really wonderful more so coz we(me and my frnd) got 2 food coupons frm suneel sir and thus our lunch actually bcame complimentary corutesy IITD DMS btw i also met android(PG) over there ...hope he posts his xperience soon.....

GD:topic "5 yrs hence.india or china?".1 min to jot dn the thoughts and 15 mins 2 discuss.there were 12 peeps in our grp so xpected a fish mkt but 4 ppl dint spk much so othrs got much more air time...since topic was genral almost eveyone had sumthing to say and all in all had a very gud GD...urs truly came in bout 7-8 times and coupla times with some stats

T:do u think it helps firms to have AB as brand?
M:depepnds gave xample bout nerolac paints....

L:gives a situation....coice b/w an intelligent guy and a person with good personality....
M:make a choice and substantiate it with reasons....ez enuf

overall a gud xperience....but i've two complaints....I HOPE DMS PPL R LISTENING.....
1)xcessive delay in gd/pi process...toooo much time wasted ...do sumthing bout it chaps.
2)arrey yaar kuchhh refreshments toh diya karo....hamne toh kaam chala liya courtesy suneel sir ....bakiyon ka kya

Your wish is my command............ was just posting my experience when I saw ur post

The Vishwakarma Bhawan is a nice place.........reached at around 11....15 minutes late(but no prob on that front as the process was'nt so strict on timings.......an understatement though )
roads are clogged like anything due 2 Board Exams..........

The GD room was big.........in small rooms voice modulation helps,but here i realised
what benefit ppl having strong voices have.......got 2 raise the voice a bit more in the next one lined up.......was in the same group as rohitk


PI was late at around 3.......4 ppl in the panel,1 had not yet come back

was asked about drop in percentage

Why MBA....gave some fundas.......domain knowledge n all that.....lady prof asks whats a Domain n all that wat i was speaking...gave some more funda.......say explain 2 a layman...Did that.....

have you been preparing 4 the interview........What methods.......How much time on Net........Which topic would you believe that if asked you would be elated 2 answer.......said Budget........wat's in 4 corporate sector in......gave some good points.......What for textile.........What is MFA(Multi Fibre Agreement)......other pitfalls...satisfied....

3rd person........What's ICT......said Internet Communication technology.......blabbered a bit while the 4th panelist came in ........regained composure ....told about ICT is IT+Telecom.......

asked about the ICT act by govt. of India........any knowledge about that....said a firm no....only question I could not answer


then ERP packages..name a few...did that

then asked 4 a survey on suitability of a city for setting up IT offices..wat should be the parameter...........answered well

All in a all a feel good PI

we are all ears my dear rohit....

answer 1 ) u have to understand the nature of the process...we had 5 panels conducting the interview and this was the major bottleneck in the whole process... but an interview process does take time(ppl who have had previous experience would agree).. a way out could have been that the panels try and finish the interview jaldi but i think that the panel should take its time in judging a candidate...good for everyone coz acc to me waiting for your turn for an hour or two extra is fine as long as u get a fair chance in front of the panel to prove yr candidature..... sabr ka fal bhi to meetha hota hai

answer 2) yaar neeche ek temporary canteen tha to sahi....bas jate aur jo khana tha kha lete....
