good post budddy - 23-02-2005, 12:02 PM

hi first of all great work friend by opeaning this thread.Iam Priyank Anand from jaipur and I am very sure about joining ICFAI.
Friends i think it is a better option than any of the MAt college and moreover colleges like kjsom and fore afterall it has constantly maintained rank in these years.
I too have a confusion about CFA prog wheher to join or not i have heard mixed responses from students. Moreover i am also confused about the laptop option as the configuration is not worth the price. If someone is clear on these factors do reply to this post.
One more thing i have heard that ICFAI will be shifting to new campus this time and will have new hostel facility also if this is true when this will happen plz tell me i have to make arrangements according to it
thanx

hey man most of the institutes you have mentioned are much much better than icfai. my honest suggestion would be to wait for all the results. i am sure u'll make it to a better institute. icfai strict no no.

about CFA - 23-02-2005, 01:36 PM

guys even i have heard that it is really tough juggling both CFA and MBA at the same time...since the ICFAI MBA program takes a lot out of you..but im still planning to go ahead with it because their CFA program is the flagship program and it is worth the investment...but what im concerned about is the fact that it normally takes more than 2 years for an average gyu to clear all the 3 levels..if someone can clear it before the placements begin he or she can cash on it big time..

about the laptop...im not opting for it at the moment..will go there and see if we really need one..

also can anyone of you tell me if kj somaiya is worth considering at this juncture...coz the last date for the dd is 28thfeb....is there any point in even thinking about it since i have a seat in ibs hyd?

rajiv, i will be reaching hyd in may after the ca exams..so as discussed we can share the accomodation..will discuss again.
amit

Thz for the response... - 23-02-2005, 02:48 PM

Hey guys,,,thz4 responses ... gud to see u all discussing good issues here////
Im in a fix still.... im keen on specialization in IT n Systems... n dont know how ICFAI is takin this up.... apart from finance,,, altho i was interested in Finance,,,
Im still awaitin Symbi Centre For IT,Pune,.... which is unheard (i think so...:huh
... no doubt i hv mixed reviews.... but yet got2 take a final dicision...
,... n bout the laptop... these ICFAI ppl hv specified Wi-FI. n stuff.. which ll make any1 blive its costly... bt i hv enquired here,,, a IBM may cost 49000 with 1500 EMI... (hope we can manage if v r involvd in SAP :whatthat....
willl give u all the details when sure...
n bout CFA how much gross money must be invested there? (alrdy the course is costliest...) ... ..is it really recognized in the industry????
... sumbody suggested we hv a poll on expe/freshers.... well how do v go bout it???
chao till next reply...

cfa course - 23-02-2005, 03:01 PM

revz, the CFA course was started way back in the late 80s by ICFAI and it is recognised in the industry and has a lot of significance...about the cost i hear it is going to be to the tune of 60k..i think it is worth the investment coz what i hear is that it is very tough if u want to do it as a correspondence course (non ICFAI people who have done CFA have told me this)..so while we are in IBS and have the facility of the lectures and library etc...we stand a better chance of clearing it. but this is just my opinion..others might think otherwise..
