Recentely discovered one book titled "How to prepare the VA and RC for CAT" by Arun Sharma and Uphadyay.

For DI n LR, of the same author Arun Sharma.

Both these books are from TATA MCGRAW HILL publications.

If ya have some MOCK papers for CAT/CET please pass it on. It would be kind of you.

Thanks.

Shail.
hey Shail,
i would recommend you to take the mock CET's that the various insti's offer (career forum, ims, career launcher) This will give you a rough idea as to where you stand on a micro level. coz ims provides a rankin for these mock tests. Also for CAT, you can get the test exemplar from ims. in case i can pass on some of these, i'll try to do that.

Hello Miss Sarah,

I have alreadt enrolled for IMS since March 2006. I am currently undergoin' my SIMCATS. I fared badly in 1st SIMCAT. I am rather accentuating on CET than CAT, coz I am a workin' professional.

Yeah, u are right, we need to take as many MOCKS as possible. Coz in CET we need speed than accuracy. And in CAT u need SPEED + Accuracy. Both will come thru rigorous practice of MOCKS.

I'll try to bring the suggestion given by you to fruition.

Thanks

Shail

I am a bangalorean ....wanting to take up CET this time ...Wanted to know if the pattern of CET and CAT are the same ...are the syllabus for both these exams same ?

Also since I will apply as an OMS candidate ...so if I take up CAT/XAT/MAT which r before CET and get a decent score ...will that score be used as a basis for calling candidates for GD/PI in CET ? ...Read something abt this recently but am not sure of it..am a little confused ...Pls clarify

c.. the process is like this..... for JBIMS,KJ,WEllin,sydnm...... to get admission in these colleges u have to give an exam claaed MH-CET.. its a state level exam which has many quotas... like SC ST etc etc...

similarly there is a quota called OMS(outside maharashtra state)...... as it is a state level exam so they have given a facility to OMS candidates... tht if they cant appear for CET.. then they can submit score of any of the 5 national level exams like CAT,XAT,JMET,ATMA and MAT....

so u can submit MAT score instead of appearing in the written test of CET.... so ur MAT score vil be considered and after tht u have to appear for GD PI....
u can also give both CET and MAT and CAT and XAt....and then they vil consider the higher score....

al the candidates who fil the form and appear for the written test or give their (CAT,XAT...etc scores) are called for the GD PI... so u vil also be called...
dont worry bout tht rite now... jus concentrate on gettin 99.95+ %ile in any exam if ur aiming for Bajaj....

as for pattern... only major difference is visual reasoning which is not included in CAT or any other exam.. so do sum practice for tht... apart frm tht CAT prep is gud enuf as difficulty level of questions in CET is way 2 less compared to CAT... its al bout speed in CET.. pracice a few papers before the test and tht shud suffice....

hope tht helps...
best of luck.
abhi

Re: CET resources - 17-09-2006, 07:13 PM

hey buddies,
This is Anmol here!a fresher who is working on ERP...
Glad to know about ur keen interests in cracking CET so soon!guys i had taken CET 06 n got brutally screwed up with a percentile in mid 90s...well all i cud tell u guys is tht u r on the right track...most of the peopl(including me last yr) went for CET (basically JBIMS..haha) only after getting crashed in other tests..but in the ned only those guys who reallly aim @ it right from the word 'GO' are the ones who get into it..
So u guys r on the right track!all the best!!
bcoz of work i got a bit deviated from my aim to become an MBA..but thnx to pg.com n ur posts i'm back in it..hope to get some help frm u all n give some...
1)firstly...this is the time u cud sharpen ur reading n vocab skills..so go on...get the Norman Lewis wordpower n get it..
WHY??altho CET is easier...compared to CAT/SNAP etc...but then the cracking of CET is tuf cuz of restricted no. of seats in JB..

2)VISUAL REASONING:-
Each test has its own personal character n this is one of the main areas wher any smarty (who has been preparing for CAT/XAT...) can be easily tripped off!!So get going...n start preparing from now on...
R.S.AGRAWAL verbal/non verbal...an excellent guide to visual stuffs...has sooo many questions u'll be tired of solving...which is required in this section...ie..to be well versed...
so guys lets get started...
all the best!!
Anmol

n ya ....dont trust stats...they r relative to the paper..ok!!
just try scoring the maximum in CET (simply by attempting as many as u can)
n trying to be better n better in efficiency with each mock u take ok!!
