the sole aim to post this topic is to help out those who want to know bout NIFT,......i am nift passout of gmt class-2001....
so anybody wants to know bout exmas.course,situation tests,placements,internships,shows etc,career after nift......post a message.....
probably pg has helped me a lot since i have decided to go for an mba..so hope i can do a bit for nift aspirant......

Really nice to see a thread on this. Few friends of mine wanted first hand info on nift .. apart from the admin. talk tht can be obtained

a few q`s like ..

1) What kind of skill set is beneficial apart from the creativity part not just to take up the course but to avoid regreting a wrong move at a later stage. N a related q abt what nift adds value-wise in a stud. in 2 years.

2) The fav. q , what r the future prospects like n how is the placement scene currently, am not just talkin abt the monetary aspect.

3) The course content, the course offerings specialisations etc.

Would really appreciate the effort.

first of all u have to bear with me for late reply...because i leave office really late...but i will try my level best to give all possible feedback....
there are two streams at nift now
1)design based
2)management related


design based course is bachelor of fashion design(after+2
management related has b tech fashion technology..both are of 4 years duration...........
apart from that there is a course called pg in fashion management sudies after graduation....and pg in garment manufacturing technology....that is only for btech passouts..........
now it solely depends on ur interest what u do.....i will give full detail of career and placements and test ...but for that u have to wait till tom....as tom is my holiday.......happy makar sankranti.....

i have applied to nift this year in PG (Fashion Technology). niftians kindly help with tips for exam... whr to do gk from?? i have got last year's sample booklets. will they be of any use?? can u tell me are there any sectional cutoffs to be considered in exam.

hi all nift aspirant....i am giving u a brief detail about nift....
1-ABOUT COLLEGE
nift is design and garment technology college.......its has seven centres..
1.delhi
2.mumbai
3.hyderabad
4.bangalore
5.chennai
6.gandhinagar
7. calcutta

now belive me i have spent two years at nift hyderabad...although every centre speaks volume bout being the best...but i assure u except delhi all the other centre are equally good....what happens with delhi is that it is a mother centre ..so facility wise it better,,,but course cirriculam....faculty....everthing is equal everywhere,,,,,there are centralised exams too.
now what makes delhi chennai bangalore excing is that all three centres are in midst of gament industry..so may b u have more exposure but other centre do have frequent industrial visit and u got to enjoy more travelling to these cities if u are studying elsewhere......all the centres have amazing facilities...internet,,,,library...hyderabad centre attaract many filmshoots because of great architectute..and in the middle of hi-tec city....i personally met abhisek,rani,esha,hema malini....but the most fascinating actor is prabhu deva.....well these things are not to b consisderd bout selection of centre......but add to ur life experince.....most imp. thing is while at nift u have famous personality visting campus so u get to interact with them....like i like rk laxman and aleq padamsee a lot when they came to hyd.......nift is a govt. run insti. so expect a bit red tapism too.... but otherwise fantastic place to b in......male to female ratio depends on course like in technology course its 1:1.......in design.. course sometime its goes like 5 guys and 25 girls in a class of 30...so guys have nice time dating around.... .......so this was a overview of nift...well in my next post will tell u bout courses....afterall i have to earn cat points here by posting more message...jokes apart bt its better to inform u guys topic wise...
