Final word from SIBM - 10-01-2005, 07:25 PM

hi guys,

I ve been a PG member from dec 2002!!..So,I ve kinda seen this forum grow leaps n bounds n I heartily wish allwin all the best for his future endeavours

There have been numerous posts regarding Symbiosis, SIBM , SCMHRD n stuff.Nope, this is not a 'my-institute-is-d-best' post or something. Now, that Iam bout to complete my MBA from SIBM n wud be joining my company in may, I thought I wud clarify a few things bout SIBM from a insider perpective.

SIBM, SCHMRD n all other symbi institutes have their own standings n weaknesses like any other B school.

from placement point of view( which ultimately interests most guys!!),here are some points to ruminate upon::

a) 105 guys out of 140 got placed on day ZERO
b) Presence of companies cutting across different sectors like Banking, IT,FMCG etc
c) Overseas placement in Singapore
d) Average salary touches Rs 5.0 lacs
e) Offers by wipro,infy,jp morgan,citi group, olam international,gsk, asian paints,castrol, hsbc...to name a few..

For obvious reasons, I cant divulge the actual placement figures..

I wont ramble bout my learnings n stuff, but it was an amazing experience for me in SIBM....

regards,

Shubham

I don't know you and yes, I appreciate your effort in sharing this info. However, I am really intrigued about that bit of info - day zero???? did you mean before joining the institute? Or the day before recruitment began - or the day recruitment started (which would be day one?)

No this is not criticism - just a genuine query.

Cheers!

B schools show a marked preference for whole numbers over natural numbers

Day ZERO in B school lingo means the day when maximum companies turn up n recruit students. It obviously means the first day of placement process...

You may have tried your level best not to come up with a cliched "my-instti-is-the-best" thingie, but your post exactly did that.

a) Afaik, If 75% of students get placed on day ZERO, it no longer remains day ZERO. Day 0, be it an engg coll, or a b-school is the day where the elite-top-brass cos scout for the creme-de-la-creme. In CET we always had Infy 1st (Day 1), while in KREC, they mostly had cos. like Novell, Synopsys, Intel, TI et al (Day 0)
b) When a BSchool offers specialisations in Fin, Mktg, Systems etc, companies from diff sectors are ought to be expected. Aint that common sense ?
c) NFK ?
d) 5 lpa ctc ?
