views regarding Symbiosis.... read these

hello friends,
one of my friend told me this about symbiosis.....i dont know what to say....
i think u all should read it.& please give your views.
anyone knowing any person in Symbiosis Pune , can help out.by telling the actual facts & separating the fact & fiction....

hi dear,

let me caution u symbiosis is a big family of about 7~8
coleges(SIFT/SITM/SIBM/SCMHRD.....)....they have all these colleges
jam-packed within the same campus about the size of a third of ur
local secondary school.....U TURN A CORNER....CROSS A ROOM....GO
UP/DOWN A FLOOR .....AND U ARE IN A DUFFERENT COLLEGE

the main building of four floors houses about 3~4 collegs.....on
the thrid floor is SCMHRD , just on top of tht ...is the MASTERS
PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT ....this is a course which is not under the
perview of SCMHRD .......or SYMBIOSIS at all, it is taught by the
same faculty as of SIFT/SITM/SIBM/SCMHRD...... but the
exams/curriculum is coordinated and conducted by PUNE
university .....even the admission is conducted under the ageis of
pune university.....i am sure when Ft .thomas meant PMIR OF SCMHRD he
meant this course which is also off handed referred to as the cousrse
of symbiosis........howver his statement tht XL is the best in ASIA
is absolutely true and in fact an understaement , it is one of the
the best courses in the world but him referring to MPM as being the
SECOND IN ASIA.....leaves much to BE DESIRED AND thought .....i can
personally asure u SCMHRD is not second to anything in the whole of
MAHARASTRA.......GAIN TO MANY THIS WOULD COME AS A RESULT OF MY BIAS
BUT ONE NEEDS TO ANALYSIS ALL THIS WITH A FREE MIND...

1) symbiosis is a commercial institute( money-minded)....otherwsie
why have diferent exams(read exam fees!!!).....why not conduct a
single exam fr all the courses and segregate candidates later..... (
the IIM'S with CAT ...do this ...why cant symbiosis do the
same!!!!)......secondly MARK MY WORD...... NO COMMERCIAL INSTITUTE
CAN EVER BECOME A SEAT OD LEARNING

2) if symbiosis is so PRISTINE why does it have so many different
afiliations and courses and wht not.....ever heard of IIM/XLRI/IRMA
diversifying so much .....IT TAKES A LOT OF CALIBRE TO MAINTAIN AN
EDGE/QUALITY/COMPETITIVENESS IN ONE COURSE only ...diversification is
done by instiututes who wish to cash in on educational bash......here
students as well as education suffer!!!!THE SAME
RESOURCES/INFRASTRUCTURE LIKE LIBRARY/LECTURE HALLS/HOSTELS/FACULTY
are shared (read abused!!!!)....by more candidates then they were
meant fr!!!!.....THIS ALL MIGHT SEEM MINISCULE NOW BUT WHEN onne GET
INTO A COLLEGE... U will see THIS ALL WILL LEAVE U FRUSTRATED!!!!


.....this is all very murky...... and i could go on fr another 100
lines,............. needless waste of bandwidth.....all this leaves
me utterly disgusted

.......just take care when u join such shady/shooy institutes.......

Hi Ankita,

well .. i guess your friend is a little bit more disgusted with Symbi and Co. and I wont comment on his / her view ... whatever ... being in Pune for the last few yrs ... this is what I've seen and heard ( directly n indirectly) ...

Regding the family of Institutes ... yes ... thats a fact and it is sure to surprise everybody ... why so many instis under one banner unless you want to make a business cashing on the very name ... regding the infra stuffs ... i think your friend has only been to the IT park campus .. pls go to the Atur Centre (Model colony ) where previously there were SCMHRD , SIFT, SITM and SCIT from ground floor to top floor respectively ... again they have made 3 / 4 instis there ... it has become a farse (in my view) in the name of imparting education ...

Well .. placement is a key factor to everybody aspiring for MBA .. but I have few ex- Symbi alumni as my friends... in their words ... its a placement agency rather than a B'school ... so if placement is your only concern .... think abt it ... else try to find a better insti ...

well .. i must point out, SIBM and SCMHRD are two instis which are a little better off ... but then SCMHRD is virtually a jail where military rules prevail (what i mean by this you would come to know once you join this very B'school ) and SIBM is much a hype and there are lot of B'schools which are much better ...

I personally didnt apply for any Symbi college inspite of being here in pune ... coz firstly my fav specialization (Systems) was not there in SIBM ... regding SCMHRD systems .. i was not too sure abt it ...

secondly .. i am not too keen to join a brigade where minting money is the primary concern ...

anyway ... it all depends on your priority ... right ? .. maybe they change with time and you have a better experience there ...

well read your views .. i have read the conditions & terms set for the joining.& i understand it will b more of like a place full of too much of rules.......as u said like a jail....

but since u have friends there in symbi & also with symbi alumni.
so what they say about it...

i only want to know as an institute how is SCMHRD.
it is good...has a good reputation in the market..... what?

i have chosen IT-Systems there..... so i thought thru this forum some one could help me out..to know more about the institute i intend to join.


well for everything u need to pay a price...so i think i pay the price of my freeedom for 2 years for a better future....

Just to put in my opinion, my fren in SCMHRD strictly refused me to join this insti at any cost but ankita i wud say it depends lot on ur prefs and posn.. meaning if u hav more calls and hopeful to convert, is a fresher and can think of putting one more try , etc etc..

i wont put things so rigidly as arcade79 has mentioned ... personally i have not seen my friends in SCMHRD so much disgusted with their college in terms of course and faculty ... well they were irritated about their weird rules and regulations (needless to say one can not expect a PG college to be a boarding school ) and regding their profiles (during the placement) as few of them were with work - ex and they were a little picky about their profiles and all (in which case , I guess you can only be satisfied if you get into top 10 B'school )

now its all depends on you ... if you get a final call and dont wanna slog for another try (obvioualy theres a risk factor in it which nobody can deny) and yes , be prepared to face those sick rules , i would rather say GO FOR IT ....

as far as ur final rank is concerned.check out by putting a or A under name and you will get the entire list and check ur new rank accdly

i have heard scmhrd and sibm are doing well in terms of placement for its level.like any other school you need to be in top 5,10 etc otherwise no use blaming the institute.

onus is on you.it always is.
