The GD and interview were quite cool. The GD started at 2:10 instead of 2pm 'cos the interviewers were engrossed in the India-NZ match at the bar(Tintos) at the Residency hotel in Chennai, which is where my interview was held! They suddenly emerged from the bar at 2:05 and rushed to the interview room.
The GD topic was "Having India and China as examples, is it right to say that benign autocracy is better than listless democracy"? There were only SIX people who had turned up and so the GD went along reasonably okay. There was one guy who turned out to be quite aggressive but the others were well-behaved.
My interview was the first and it lasted for around 7-8 minutes. They were quite cordial, asked about my work-ex, why I want to do MBA, and then started talking about placements and how lateral placements would be tough to get at XIM. I had to convince them that a full time MBA at XIM is what I really wanted to do. Then they pretty much asked me about my college(PSG) and to my surprise they knew that it ranked as one of the top 10 engineering colleges in the country according to India Today a few years ago. They then said that I could leave - no checking of any records or certificates.
I left right away to watch the game, and so couldn't find out how the others fared.
Sathya.
