Need some clarifications from u. Im not a resident of Maharastra state.
1)From whatever informatuion i could collect it seems that there is reservation for candidates from maharastra for admissions into JBIMS. is it so? if yes how much is the reservation.
2)For the candidates who dont belong to maharstra, is it not required to write the CET. It seems that they take CAT or XAT scores. What if I want to appear for CET although i am not from maharastra.
3)Where do we get the forms for JBIMS and how do we apply for it?
4)When does the session starts in JBIMS?
Thanx in advance buddy
Amit | JBIMS is basically for students from Maharashtra. Though there are some seats reserved (i think around 10-15) for people from outside maharashtra. By this I mean those who have completed their qualifying exams like ssc,hsc outside maharashtra or who are not domiciled in maharashtra.
There are around 40 odd seats in open category for people from Mumbai univ area and around 15% of seats for people from other univ in Maharshtra.
(Total seats 120, reserved 50% * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * , open 50%)
Last year they took CAT, XAT and i think even jmet scores.....don't ask me how they converted those scores into percentiles ......that is DTE for * * you * * * *
JBIMS sessions starts somewhere around July, last year there was a delay because of the delay in admission process.
Last year some students who were from outside maharashtra took the cet but not sure whether those scores were considered.....
Also donot ask about the admission process as it is as perplexing as the DTE itself......only pray that they donot call u personally at the centres to submit the application form as last time...... * * *

well its true that JBIMS has a lot of reservations for Maharashtra students but then its better to declare that upront rather than have an undisclosed reservations as some other institutes have (hint: A prestigious college in Delhi ....

the exact no of seats for OMS is 18 all for open category
As far as the conversions are concerned no one knows for sure how is it done but after some analysis we can come to the conclusion that , In CET your percentile is determined by your written score only and not the composite score and if u r submitting some other exam's percentile your marks will be equal to the person with the same percentile in CET.
so i took CET and got 140 in written which resulted in a percentile of 99.79 in CET. Now if Mr. X submits a MAT percentile of 99.79 he will get 140 in written then to that ur GD/PI score will be added and on the basis of composite score *addmissions are done
here are some actual examples from our class and u can see the above hypothesis working in the below examples
1) Mr. A - Submitted Xat score which was 98 percentile it was converted to 138 written marks.Plus he secured 31 in GD/PI which took his CET total to 169 and an OMS rank of 19
2) Mr. B - Submitted MAT score of 99.85 which was converted to 142 written marks and a GD/PI score of 34 which took his total to 176 and he got rank 10
3) Mr.C - Submitted MAT score of 99.74 which was converted to 139 written marks and a GD/PI score of 29 which took his total to 168 and he got rank 22
so if you submit a MAT percentile of 99 (which is not so difficult) you stand a very good chance of converting.
hope this will be helpful

jamil
