Hi,
I wanted to know what were the waiting list cut-offs for XLRI - BM and PMIR courses for XAT-2004 (conducted this year in Jan). One of my friend had a waiting list number somewhere around 125+ and although he didnt join XLRI, I was wondering till what waiting list number is admitted in XLRI for either of the courses.
Any current XLers or those who joined XLRI this summer, please provide this info.

Hi Amit,
I was wait Listed 107 in for the Xl BM Program this sumer.I guess the cut-off rank was around 54(+- 3)
For PM and IR I guess the Cut-off rank would have been a lot lesser arnd 20(thats just an educated guess).
O the I.E. I will not let anyone walk through my mind with their dirty feet. | | | | | | | |

Dont try to predict your chances of getting in XLRI based on your XAT scores. I know of many instances last year where students with 99th %tile didnt make it whereas students with %tiles much lower made it. Might be a case of sour grapes on my part but I had a score of 107 and about 4 of my friends were (+- 10) but none of us made it and had waitlist ranks beyond 80

Hi,
Based on the XAT-2004 paper, I can tell you that no newspaper/ study material will help you in the GK section because the GK section did not have the normal GK questions like Currency of Uganda or Prime Minister of a Country etc. It was more abstract and most of it was based on Trivia. I remember a question like 'Charter of Liberty' and the answer was magna carta. Now no general GK book will give you such questions. This is all Trivia.
I would suggest that you buy a Trivia book and go through it. It might be possible that XAT reverts back to its old GK style paper but then it is always better to be prepared. There was a section on Quotes with around 10 questions. You can refer to some common sites lie www.worldofquotes.com but the data is so huge that is not possible to cram everything....there were some normal GK questions also, but then their number was very less. Some questions on Indian History was also there.
I hope this helps/
Regards,

Even students studying in a b-school cannot say with too much of a convitcion as to what their school really looks for..well this is just guesstimate, based on myintercation with fllow students here..
Last year, it seems everybody started off from scratch at the interview stage, written scores wuldnt have weihed too much for/against your favour...having said that remember this is only for last year and nobody nows what will be the criterion this year... (Disclaimer:This is just my guess but there is a possibility that im completely wrong and written scored did carryconsiderable weightage )
Last year, very unlike XAT, the Quant paper was too easy, and there were a few questions repeated from earlier papers, keeping this in mind the selection panel might have consiously tried to offset any undue advantage/disadvantage because of a good/bad written score...whether this was right is open to debate...and it might completely do a volte-face this year...
so just dont read too much into these cutoffs etc, do your stuff the rest isnt in your hands..
All the best

I had an excellent written score and had a very good interview as well.....but I didn't even get on the waiting list!
IMO, XL places a lot of importance on your acads and work-ex. Rarely is the question asked - Is our children learning?
