last yr sample papers were on the website...i guess dis yr they r sendin ose 2 d people who ve applied..well i ve solved sum of last yr paers...very easy...quant is even easier than tht of mat...rc's were of 200 to 300 words..

NIFT- PG MANAGEMENT( FASION MANAGEMNET STUDIES)

The exam generally is held in feb. and is a very easy paper.( it had no negative markings earlier, as of now I’m not sure). Then ppl who qualify the written paper have to appear for a TAT test where they check ur responses to pics, drawings etc( nothing to do with being creative etc… just to check the way u respond and to check ur personality). Then as usual a GD and interview. The ppl who qualify get centers according to their ranks. The 1st 22 definitely get delhi, the next 22 blore and the rest get hyd.( this yr I have been told they have added mumbai also so don’t know what the pattern will be.) the rest 8 seats they have per center are for SC/ST, NRI candidates and the physically handicapped quota. It\f in the 1st 22 students ppl drop out etc or chose to take up the other center the next few get delhi.
Abt joining the 1st week u join college u have 1 week orientation etc. no studies etc. then when u start with studies the 1st day only u get projects etc..( my HOD was MR Tarun Panwar, now shifted to Delhi- so guys who get to be under him u all will be damn lucky coz he is the man who runs this course well. He has good contacts and stuff he makes placements, projects, internships all as per ur choices.
This course basically has two parts -exports and retailing. Depends what u like( ppl generally are not sure what to do when they join but later they get to know it). Exports has fast money and endless work. Its good for ppl who want money coming in fast. Ppl who have an inclination toward retailing, there is money but not as fast as exports. There are more overseas placements in exports then retail. All the big cos. Come for placement, the final placement takes place in Delhi sometime in Feb. all big brands, export houses, retailers come , we even have some designers who pick u up as merchandisers.
About the subjects etc. in the 1st term we had 10 subjects, none of them too hard. We had all variety from stasts, marketing, pattern appreciation etc…… we have more of practical work than theory. We even have ppl from the industry coming to us regularly to teach us various subjects, in the 2nd sem we had training for a week in an export house. The course is like all other management prog. But concentrates on fashion. U study all subjects that a normal MBA guy would do. But something extra u get here is the creative part. U even have kind of drawing, coloring classes etc which covers ur fashion forecasting abilities.
We have two exams per sem. And regular class tests presentations projects, submissions etc. it is compulsory for u to clear all the core papers. If u fail in any appear for a re-exam and the results are combined for all the centers. there is a lot of interaction with the industry ppl which is of gr8 advantage to all the students. we even had ppl from the industry who taught us retail math’s, exports costing, consumer behavior, global textiles etc. we even had industrial visits to various places.







The paper is easy. No need to panic. U have a normal quant sec. DI, English, GK, Business sec and also a sec that checks ur emotional stability which carries no marks. The papers has no negative markings. It have a lot of questions based on numbers, so u shud be strong with that. They have a lot of series question where they give u some sets and u have to fill in the blank etc. the GK that they give is either very easy and the conventional type or hardcore garments related. Not to worry much about that. The English sec is a sitter. The DI is also easy but tricky they give very close options. On the whole the paper is very. Easy for a person who has prepared for cat.

and good news is...

that for pg in fashion management studies, they have added 60 new seats...30 each in Mumbai and Kolkata...so Best of Luck!

Does anyone know whether there are sectional cutoffs or everything depends on the aggregate score itself?I tried to find out but it isnt mentioned anywhere.
