XIMB Reservations ??

HI ppl,
Just had a look at the XIMB prospectus and found a line saying that '2/3 rd of the total seats are reserved for people of Orissa origin.' Could be great if some XIMBians could confirm this or tell us the exact stats of no of seats for Gen and for Reservation.

Hi sandy....
dont worry abt the seats stuff......they dont stictly follow what they are said saying in the prospectus ......i dont know right figures but can definitely say that this criteria is not followed while taking students..................but one thing , XIMB doesn't compromise on the quality of students they are taking

Hi Sandy,
The specific detail mentioned in the prospectus is just a guideline and not a strict rule by any stretch.
XIMB follows a very strict and transparent admission policy based on merit and merit alone....
Besides as the situation is now.... The genral rule is that we will pick up only deserving candidates, whether they are domicile or not.... In fact in most cases, the number of candidates from outside are totally independent of this rule...
So PLease go ahead and apply.....
Its a rocking place to be.....

rightly pointed out by itsdishain that there is no compromise on the quality of the students.

The institute never puts much emphasis on the reservation... infact in last few batches domicile candidates are all meritorious whose no. is not according to the reservation. :P :P

its just as per the guidelines signed by the jesuit society and orissa govt., they r mentioning in the prospectus.

so just go ahead and apply.....

As a student, I will say that, its a great place to be in......

Also even the 900th B-School will not accept that they compromise on quality of student.

Still I want to believe my PG friends. Ok, can u plz help us will any rough estimate of percentage of students with Orissa origin in ur batch. If possible ur senior/junior batch.

Relax buddy.. all we wanna say is that you are not going to suffer at all because of this...

As far as the numbers go.. its about 30% in our senior batch and around 45% in our batch....

Here i would like to mention that this 45% includes people like me who got more than 99.7% in XAT ( and above 99.5% in CAT) and have domicile ... So if you are implying that we got in due to the Reservations alone.. then I think its unfair to us....
So kindly understand that when we say that XIMB does not compromise on quality, there is no GENERALIZATION...

But then this is really strange that you should be comparing XIMB with the 900th B-School .... wonder how somebody could do that ....
