Re: [2010] SIBM Pune GD PI experiences - 30-01-2010, 06:50 PM

Hi.... I had mine on 29th Jan, 2010 in 9.00 AM slot. My group was 2X F2.

The drive to Lavale was good
Was litle nervous about the whole thing. When i reached the campus the group co-ordinators were waiting for us. They took us to a room and asked to take out the original documents for verfications. After that the certificates wer checked & v wer given a ID card with our Name, SNAP id & group no.

We all gathered in Assembly Hall wer i met my other group members. V wer 10 ppl in group and our group co-ordinatior was Akhil. He was very helpful & quite friendly. He answered all the queries and supported all of us

I was first called for PI. The panel consisted of 3 members. They were also lukin quite friendly. I went in with a big smile on my face
I was asked to say something vich i dnt mention in the annexure. I answered them. They asked about vich specailation i would like to do. I said HR. Then quizzed about HR. M a fresher so they said y dnt u come back after 2 years when u have work exp. I gave my explanations saying i would like to study here 1st. It lasted barely 4-5 mins. Before getting in i was very nervous but after PI i felt good. The panel was nice

Than it was our GT. Man wat a freaky kinda experience it was!!!
Some members in my group wer grilled by panel. After v finished our psyhometric test v wer blind folded. Our task was to find a rope from the floor & mak a perfect square in 3 minutes. V almost made it. The panel gave us another chance to do it with our eyes open in 30 seconds. Again v almost made it. Bt they kept on saying it wsnt a perfect square

Last but not the least v had our GD. Unlike others who had case studies, v had Topic based GD "News and your views." It was also good. Not a fish market, as everyone got a chance to speak. Here the panel members were awesome. The Colonel was too good and the other one was silently observing us.

Last v had a campus tour with our Group Co-ordinator. The campus is magnificent
Dnt want to come back from there. Hoping to get there soon.
It was truely a great experiece. More thanks to my GC Akhil.

Re: [2010] SIBM Pune GD PI experiences - 30-01-2010, 09:11 PM

sorry puys for posting so late..jst returned home.. so here goes my post..
my interview was on 28th..afternoon slot..batch 1YI..
the first name that comes to my mind when i think of the entire experience is
"SHWAYTAJ"
he was our group coordinator. a smart young dynamic personality sure to please anyone.. we were able to gel with everyone well..
we had our pi's first.. there were 3 members in our panel.. they were very friendly.. they try to analyse ur personality in around 5 mins.. and i assure u they are good at it..be true to urself..
next we had our group task.. there was a 3 minute psychometric test.. then we were all blindfolded and had to form a square with a rope lying on the ground. with God's grace and a little bit of luck we managed a perfect rectangle.. they were quite impressed..they asked if we read pagalguy..and what did we read there?? i answered that the completion of the task was not important but the group dynamics was.. the person incharge(looked to be from the army) told 'me' to go back and post "HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY"...
then we had our group discussion.. it wasnt the ones similar to the others.. wasnt the ethics one but was ways to improve business.. everyone contributed well but towards the end it seemed a bit repetitive..
then returned back to the pick up point at 7 30..
the entire process was coordinated so well by the students itself.. all around u get smiles and that itself releases the pressure prior to the interview.. last but not the least about Symbiosis City.. thats what it should be called.. great infrastructure and clean air around the place.. even though u might get bored in a few months but the change will be good to all.. pune is a well planned citytoo..too many bikes on the road though..
hoping we all get through.. as far i remember--- karthik, deepak, bikash, simran, sumi, piyushi, nevin, viswajeet-- one name i just cant remember---
anyways all the best for all the candidates...

Re: [2010] SIBM Pune GD PI experiences - 30-01-2010, 11:20 PM

Sorry to be late, just got back home.
My GD/PI was on 28th 1.00pm IYA group
First thing to mention is about our GC "Shaurin". He was really awesome and entertained all our doubts and gave really helpful tips on how to counter the process.
Our first was GD based on case study in which a driver runs over a girl and now his personnel manager has to decide his future. Here the panel had two members a lady and a gentleman both very cordial and welcoming.

The second part was PI. The panel had 3 members - two were from the industry and 1 was an alumuni. The questions were very basic, from annexure. Since i was a fresher it revolved around my co-curricular. It lasted arounnd 8-10 min. The panel was very supportive and made me at complete ease.

Final process was the GT. Here we were given 2 bricks and asked to balance all 10 people of our group. We nearly made it and had fun inspite of all their attempts to unnerve us.
The whole process was really cool, my group was very nice -- somas, rohit, vinoth, piyush, shreya and all i missed. Keeping my fingers crossed and ATB for every1

Re: [2010] SIBM Pune GD PI experiences - 01-02-2010, 01:18 AM

Hey Puys,

I would have to start with the efforts of the SIBM Admissions Team. The whole process was well co-ordinated and brilliantly organised. Until now i only read about the praises for the SIBM Admissions Team. Now I realise the full extent of these praises !!!
The Campus -- I was simply spellbound by the Location and the surrounding Natural Beauty .

Met Kedar -- The GC .. He put people at ease. Gave us details about the procedure.
Met the group -- Mahesh, Amar, Nitin, Deepak, Suri, Dhuwal, Wadhwa,

The first of the three was PI..
Met Priyanka outside the PI room ..
Had a nice chat with her ranging from Sudha Murthy ,to, my passion for teaching , Shashi Tharoor, to, Priyanka's amazing background, To abruptly end at What puts people at ease ..

Had a Panel of 3. Guessing a Mix of 2 Alumni + 1 Professor.
Referring to the Sirs in the Panel acc to their positions.
The PI was mainly about the Extra Currs
(L) How would the work place react after knowing its employee's MBA aspirations?
(L) So many IT guys planning to do MBA ?
(L) So u Cycle ? - Yes I Trek and Cycle
(L) What do you find interesting in Trekking ?
A-- The exercise involved, planning, the team spirit..
(M)What Events have you organised?
A-- Told about being the Co-ordinator of College Technical Event..
(M) Asked what i learnt from it
A-- Told abt the Scheduling of Activities, Dealing with People..
(M) Asked about specfics of Dealing with people ..
A-- Various aspects of people involved and how i dealt with each ...
(M) What does Dealing with people do ..?
A-- Told about the necessary rapport developed and it's importance at later stages .. ?
(M) So u mean to say u use them later ?
A -- No sir not use them. It's vice versa too They might need my assistance at later stages also I might need their assistance later ...
(M) So it's reciprocal ..
A-- Yes Sir it's Mutual.
(R) Tell us about your Family Background.
_- Told about it.
Formalities Done Left the room.

The next was GD
Topic was -"MBA is Mediocre, but Arrogant "
Was a nice GD, where most spoke. I pitched in at proper intervals.
Gave example of Bill Gates.
Overall it was a Healthy GD.

Had the GT immediately after that.
Had a Pyschometric Test . Instructions Given in Military fashion
by, i guess to be, Priyanka's Sis...
GT was the Ball to be balanced on the structure...
Gave suggestions to form pillars and strategically place them at appropriate positions.
Co-ordinated it well..
The Team Chemistry was good. Participation from all corners.
Finished the structure at the Nick of the moment.. ..
Were asked to place the ball on the structure .. Thought it would stay .. was very optimistic...
Still it stuck for about 2-3 secs..
This was followed with more Stress Qs . This was also interesting...

All in All .. A wonderful experience ..
Thanx :-
Kedar .. for the co-ordination, necessary inputs, and the Campus Tour .. ..
Priyanka for the chat b4 the PI..
Shobhan for the final moments caught on CAM ..
The Group 4YH for discussions on wide ranging topics ..

May the Best Win ..!!

Re: [2010] SIBM Pune GD PI experiences - 01-02-2010, 09:38 AM

Crashed and burned through this one. Was the first call in 4 years . Could have done better in lotsa places. I was in Group 3XD, 30th 9:00 Am. Remember a few of the guys - Puneet, Vivek, and the dude in the brown shirt and goatee - forgot your name mate. I was the mallu dude in the dark green shirt.

GD was okayish. Before our GD started, everyone was talking about how everyone should be polite, structured, etc. I knew it was not gonna be, and 3 minutes into the GD, it was almost fishmarkety. 3~4 guys were hogging the airtime. I managed to get one point in, but by then, it had taken a turn for the worse. I didnt want to make it worse, so kept holding it back to maintain at least some decorum. Then thankfully the panel intervened. And we ( especially those of us who didnt get much space) got to speak. When I got my turn, I got struck by mental block, and for some reason, i couldnt talk about my point. After a few minutes, gave a rehash of my earlier point since I still couldn't get the other one.
The topic was
" social environment is an outcome of economic policy"
The panel was great, and actually intervened. This was something I hadn't expected, since usually the moderators stay aloof from the proceedings, and once the GD turns fishmarket, everyone loses. In this case, we all got a fair chance.

The Interview was not very challenging. Everyone found it the same, and that's what worries me. We were simply talking about how I'd waited this long for an MBA, about things at work, about the electronics stuff I do it my free time. I rambled about flunking in college, about flunking certifications at work, about making practical circuits in my free time. I was so caught off guard by the ease with which I was able to talk to them, I didn't try to sell myself at all. In retrospect, I think the image i projected was pretty much the 'confused engineer in career crossroads' that I'd ended up appearing as in my SOP, and ended up regretting. Lets see how they choose.

The group task was the most interesting. We had to fill up a psychometric form, and we had a bunch of seniors subjecting us to some dadagiri style stress. Usually I tend to react adversely to stress. Somehow I was able to pull through this one, especially when I noticed that none of the others in my team were putting up a fight when we failed at our task, and were asked to explain. I gave a few answers, and the panel asked me about whether I was unorganized ( based on my answers in the form). I answered in the affirmative, based on my experience & my feedback from my superiors. They asked me how I would be supposed to manage effectively if I was unorganized. I simply said that I've learnt, and will continue to learn to organize better, and that was all I could do from my end.

at this point, the whole thing was concluded, and we , being the last batch, went home.

A note of appreciation for the aspirant relations team. We felt very much at home, and your answers and advice were frank, and to the point, and real, unlike some other institutes/students which try to project a larger than life image to show off/attract students. Thank you Vaibhav & the others ( especially the dude outside the interview room . I was a bit tense. he was the one who calmed me down).

IF GOD DIDN'T MAKE IT, AN ENGINEER DID!
