Regarding XAT !

Hi friends

I, just like many of you over here I suppose have started preparing for XAT 2005 which by all possibilities is scheduled to be held on the 9th of Feb.
Would you guys be having any information on the testing formats over the years and the focus areas as in Quants and Reasoning especially, please do post it over here.
This I guess shall be really beneficial for most of us cos wht one can find on the websites of training institutes is the analysis of the latest XAT and a comparision with that of the previous year's format.
Looking forward for your responses........lets keep this thread growing.....

XAT consists of 3 sections Quant(60qn), Eng(80qn) and GK(60qn). The time given is 2hrs with sectional time limt. There is 1mark for every correct answer & (-.33) for every wrong answer.
XAT 2004 was a deviation from the previous years XAT. In 2004 the quant questions were very simple and were taken directly from Barron's GRE guide. The cut-off was around 25. But prior to that quant was the toughest section which included functions, probability and permu-combi qns and cut-off used to be around 10. In 2004 they had also given some DI qns in the quant section, which was new for XAT. Again they had also changed the GK pattern which included 6 sections consisting of qns from Geog, Hist, Science, Mamagement, Proverbs etc. So one can't predict what's going to be this year's pattern.
About the date it is usually conducted on 1st Sunday of Jan.

XAT forms out yet?

The XAT date until last year was the first sunday of the calendar year..........u have to apply for XAT,then apply to XLRI separately.It will cost around 700 bucks for XAT and again another 750 for XLRI form............we can apply (usually till dec 5 th).....the format is It's a 200 qn paper,80 in VA, 60 in GK,60 in QA.........

Happened to call up the XLRI Administrative unit at Jamshedpur and this is wht they told me.....then plan to schedule XAT on 9th of February 2005.
Anywayz u guys could call them up to confirm the same....

How are u guys progressing with the preparations as in wht study material are u using and are there any National mocks for XAT inline with the NCATs and SIMCATs scheduled?...Do keep em posted.

thanx for the info. how r u ppl preparing for xat? it is easy to get CAT material but what abt XAT? which mock xat papers are supposed to be good. please reply at the earliest.

the information pouring is really informative and really feel such a thread for XAT was long overdue.hv any of u got any idead from where the old xat quetion papers will be available or even the mock papers for xat!!thy wd b really useful if posted here.

The ONLINE registration for XAT will start from 1st September.
XAT is scheduled on 4th of Jan.
