Re: SIIB Admission 2010-12 Helpdesk - 01-10-2009, 08:30 PM

Hi Guys.
I am having 38 months of exp in IT. I want to know how SIIB will help me giving new edge to my career. Are there students in SIIB which are having more than 3 years of exp in any of the field and as i am more interested in finance will it fine as my exp is in IT. what was the median pay package for this year (09-10).
Thanks.

@ nikkishailesh05

Yes
There are a few people having more than 3 yrs of experience ranging from manufacturing to IT.Work experience will help you at every step , be it shortlisting or final selection.
If you want to specialise in Finance , IT experience can be projected to some extent if you have worked in the financial services vertical(you need to project finance related work in your IT work ex).
However, if you are aiming at lateral positions you will definitely get a significant leverage if you go back to IT sector. It all depends on how you project your CV and the company's requirements and roles offered.

@mohitkhanna

Hi ,ofcourse your family business is as good a work experience as any other. In fact , one hones various other skills while running a family business which one might not learn while doing an IT job.You just need to produce the relevant documents to prove your work ex.
Regarding your profile , i would suggest you to do your best in SNAP and GD/PI process.
With a good score in SNAP coupled with your work ex , you can be a part of SIIB .

well i would like to ask all symbi puys here that last year after snap.. there was a clamour that maks obtained came to be less for many aspirants.. atleast heard ds from my seniors who wrote snap. though later it got rectified as per symbi website still ppl said that 2 was lesser..
i heard that most of the seats at symbi instis were filled by donation only.. so called management quota.. overtly or covertly.. though in symbi prospectus n documents its stated that only few seats r under that quota n its in ads i even saw sybi stating never to take up donations i heard that snap ranks even after all rectification constituted very less in final calls n admssns.. is this true.. or true to what extent.. what exactly then takes place at symbi procedure...im not saying its bad or sumthing 4 dm 2 take donations but i want 2 get facts right b4 i sit at snap . if only few seats are on merit and snap i feel its not rational 2 spend so much money (1500 snap + 1000 bucks each insti if im nt wrong ) after symbi atleast for me....
i would like to know exactly how many setas are available n what about all ds reservation managemennt quotas in instit like SIBM SIBM bangalore SCMHRD SIIB n SIOM...in each of them n exactly.. thnxx

@ sanmoy07

Hi , as far as rectification of marks are concerned , this was done correctly later.I also got less than expected initially but after rectification , got the expected figures and finally i got admission.Hence,be assured that after the rectification, all marks were in place.

In addition to what sam.cool.gupta posted, since you cannot produce a certificate proving your work experience, a letter of recommendation from your clients/customers would really help.

Friend
I understand your concern, there might be such rumors amongst aspirants, however I can assure you that nothing of this sort is practiced at SIIB. As the website says

Number of Seats: 120

Reservation: Within Sanctioned intake
a) S.C.:15 %
b) S.T.:7.5 %
c) Physically Handicapped: 3%
d) Management Seats: 15%

Over & above Intake:
2 Seats for Kashmiri Migrant
International Students 15%

the same is followed and no donations are accepted under any circumstances, though there is a different fee structure for few categories as per rules laid by Symbiosis International University and University Grants Commission. The current batches at SIIB has students in above given proportions only. The seats left vacant in any category are transferred to students in Waiting list which SIIB declares well in advance.

SIIB follows the procedure as it has been mentioned in any of its advertisements, SIIB website or SIU website. I request you, not to fall prey to any of such rumors. Money spent on SNAP forms is sincerely worth it.

Hope that answers all your concerns.

You dont really HAVE TO get it, its not compulsory but it would be better you could get one. A letter of recommendation for a Business School can be given to you by your Teacher/School or College Principle/Employer/ Business clients etc in which they may write about the qualities, characteristics, and capabilities of being recommended in terms of your ability to perform at an MBA program. Regional Head or any senior officer would do.

All the Best
