Hi! Well your qualifications are unique, but you will have to give a thought as to where you want to target for placements. Healthcare sector is now a huge sector includes IT, Pharma, Insurance, Hospitals etc. so far all recruitment by the companies have been oriented to tap our knowledge of the hospitals and the health care sector. So your qualifications will not give you an edge, but that shouldnt stop you from pursuing a career in the health care sector as there are many students here with a background completely unrelated to health care. please try only if you are passionate about the sector and not because this sector is currently the " in thing ". remember you will be competing with doctors, engineers, pharmacy graduates etc when it comes to job interviews and only your dedication will see you through.
regards

hi evyone, m a physiotherapist and keenly looking forward to join SIHS for the coming year. But i have a small query. Why does evyone from SIHS including the recent batch keeps hiding the placement records. Including both pay packs and the companies. See Healthcare is the best sector to be a part of in the coming decade. Yet why are we shy sharing the truth. I ll be highly oblidged if I get the real stats on this.
Thanks in advance Seniors.!

And one more thing, recently one of ma friends came back from California, US. She works as healthcare consultant with Mc.Kinsey international. She states that the healthcare sector is overwhelming. especially in US. Why dont we call for placements from such countries. And, m currently working with Mediconnect Global, which is itself a health insurance processing company for US. So will it add to ma advantage in the selection process. Thank you all for sparing your precious time, and being a part of some serious discussion, thanks again;

Dear Naveen... Placement records are not state secrets, nor are they anything to be shy or embarrassed about. the reason i am keeping very silent about this is to prevent pay package from being the "sole" motivating factor for anybody wishing to join the course. It is a real pleasure to have motivated individuals as your compatriots. While as to current placement records, the first batch of the college have got placed in a myriad of institutions and hence it would be a real "donkey work" of a task if i start listing out some 40 odd companies. About pay packages, our batch placement is yet to start and hence i cannot say what we are going to get, but so far the grapevine has been that the average package for our seniors is the starting package for freshers in our batch. In case you are still very curious, i would suggest you to call up the institute directly for official information.
regards

Yes, health care sector in India has tremendous potential, we as students are already feeling the demand for people with our qualifications. We are hopeful of a very satisfying placement process this year with some very good packages. The demand has been maximum from IT companies and some of our seniors ( other than those who got placed internationally) are currently based in the US on official duty. With regards to your profile, yes you will definitely have a good edge and i wish you all the very best in your endeavor. Hopefully we will be able to interact as alumni in the future.
regards

1st of all thank you Major for taking all the trouble to run this thread.
i am thinking about SIHS but so far im confused...and its regarding its placement. im confused because my friend's brother, student of SIHS MBA, has given a me a detailed picture of the last placement which is not at all rosy. recession was there, but 60-65% placement, shocking packages...are they true and are they because of recession only?
as you said, it is not the "soul" motivating factor, but it is a very important one. great course, great faculty, great future...but a poor starting salary which is not enough for loan+monthly life, what's the point? for a student like me, who will need to take education loan, there is hardly any other factor through which i can judge a MBA course. so some information on the current placement, whenever possible, will be very helpful...not just only to me but to everybody.
official information from the institute...im not counting on it. i was advised not to go with what its website is saying on placement either. i checked last year's thread...nothing on placement. can i count on you? there are a lot of things at stake for me.

i understand your dilemma and yes pay packages are important. And for a first batch, the placement record of our senior batch has been pretty good. If i were you, i wouldnt take that as demotivating factor. our batch placements have just started, a lot of companies have already queued up hence the outlook is good. About MBA in HHC, in my experience there was a degree of confusion among the industry people. Hospitals would ask us as to how we were different from a MHA course and industry people ask us how we are different from a regular MBA course. Till things are actually on paper i can currently only venture that last years recruiters are already knocking on our doors, the same for many organisations where we did our summer internship. A few students have also received PPOs. Also the hospital where i have done my internship which usually takes 1 or 2 interns every year are asking for 6 to 8 interns the coming year and are also expecting me back with them after the course. As to exact figures, please wait i will definitely put them up once the whole thing is consolidated.
