Hi Bhargav,
Firstly, I am dying to be in Symbi and SCMHRD is my topmost priority.
I was just looking for something like this only, It will be a long reply, I hope you will go through it and reply as it will save many ppl their time and obviously your time also.
Something bt me:
I am giving SNAP first time, I will be having 18 months of work-ex from Accenture India(leading MNC in India)
Acads: 10th- 67%, 12th- 59% (did well in AIEEE) NIT-Surathkal B.tech 6.3(on scale of 10)
Good extra cocurricular, president of our society+event mgmt head for our cultural fest+presented many Business plans... blah blah
My personal question:
I am very much scared that I will not be entertained due to my ACADS, does ACADS play such an important role, or its just your SNAP+GD+PI that can save you.
... Just few questions, I know this will take much of your time... but what I am trying to do here is asking questions point wise + creating a FAQ for ppl (after you will answer) + solving my doubts + stopping ppl from posting repetitive questions.
1. What was the cut off for SCMHRD in 2008 ?
2. Over the last couple of years there was lot of confusion over marks scored in SNAP and the new list was put out also last year, but everybody cried foul.. This time will there be any key published by the institute ? so everything goes fair...
3. What is the selection criteria in SCMHRD?(weightage to acads + SNAP +PI +Gd ??)
4. (for ppl like me)If we crack SNAP(80-90 marks) will our ACADS ruin our Dreams ??
5. When can we fill SCMHRD forms and when we have to submit them(last date).
6. I have heard it that Symbi Institutes have hiked their fees. Is it true ?
Guys and Girls, for all other queries please first go through and then post, lets keep this as clean as possible.
SCMHRD - Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development ? SCMHRD, Pune

Hi Rickysh09,
Thanks for your query. Don't worry about the length, because I m sure it will help other aspirants as well, as you said
In answer to your questions:
1. SCMHRD uses many criteria apart from the SNAP score to give GD/PI calls. Some of these criteria are academics, past work ex, extra-curriculars, overall profile, etc. This is called profile-based selection. As a result, there is no SNAP score cutoff released. Although for students who perform exceptionally in SNAP, there is a threshold score, above which candidates are definitely called for GD/PI. So SNAP is really important and make sure you do your best.
2. The SNAP test is conducted by the Symbiosis International University, and the scores are also released by them. The entire process is conducted independently of the constituent colleges, and SCMHRD has no role to play in it. Once the scores are communicated to the institutes, they release their GD/PI calls. As far as the discrepancy in the scores last year is concerned, SIU had released a revised score list to sort the problem. They will certainly ensure that this does not happen again, and have already assured us that an answer key will be released this year onwards.
3. As I already mentioned, SCMHRD has a profile-based selection criteria, which is very carefully worked out each year based on a lot of research. Based on the findings of the research, the exact weightage given to each criteria vary each year. Broadly however, it takes into consideration all aspects of a candidates performance, right from academics, work exp, extra-curriculars, achievements, leadership roles taken up, SNAP score, performance in GD, and PI. It is important to perform equally well at all stages.
4. In one word, NO. Although academic performance has a lot of weightage in our selection, it is definitely not the end of the road for you, even if you don’t have excellent grades in your marksheets. This is the best part of SCMHRD's selection process; you are never rejected on the basis of one single weak point in your profile. However, it is really important now that you do you absolute best in the forthcoming stages, so that your chances are maximized.
5. The SCMHRD application forms are not out yet, and the exact dates for the application are yet to be announced. As soon as they are decided, we will put them on this forum, as well as on our website www.scmhrd.edu You can keep a lookout for it there. The last date for submission will be in early January 2010.
6. Regarding the fees, the SNAP brochure will be released shortly. Please purchase it and refer to the SCMHRD section. The fees structure will be provided in detail over there. The updated structure will also be available on our website shortly.
I hope that clears some of your confusion. Please feel free to ask more questions as and when you need to
Take care and good luck in your preparation!

Hey Tehsin,
SNAP has evolved over the years and the verbal section now contains the following 4 major sub-sections: - RC
- Vocab-based questions (analogy, synonyms, antonyms, multiple usage)
- Para-jumbles
- Grammer & Usage (parts of speech, pronouns, idioms, passive voice)
REMEMBER: This might not be an exhaustive list of topics for the verbal section in SNAP, but this covers most of it.
For preparation of RCs, please read 1 newspaper daily (end-to-end) especially editorials and a business magazine. Practice a lot of para-jumbles. If possible also go through a basic grammer book (Wren & Martin is one i can suggest).
Regarding the sectional-cutoffs, there are no explicit sectional cut-offs but its preferable to have a balanced score across all sections and a high overall score. And we at SCMHRD give out call based on your overall profile and not just SNAP score.
At-least for this year there are absolutely no plans to conduct the SNAP online. So dont worry...just concentrate on your SNAP preparation
P.S. Puys....Dont hesitate to ask your queries, however small (no doubt/query according to us is small/irrelevant) they might be...
