Now as you are aware the basic preparation for logic is to solve and understand the core concepts. As a next step, you could start working with Shankuntala Devi(problems involving logic) and try solving Su-Doku. Though sudoku dosnt directly help in exam, it builds a line of thought. These steps help you with Mathematical Reasoning and Logical Reasoning( Easy - Moderate) which form a major chunk of the LR section.

The other areas you might look into are Coding Decoding, Sequences & Series(Easy - Moderate), and Set theory(Easy).

Now as far as placements records of SIIB is concerned, we cannot comment on it as comparing colleges is not fit to be put up on a public forum.

Well for GK, I have a little strategy of my own...

never ever can a GK cutoff will be more than 10 for any institute. Out of 40, there will be 15 questions which are outright "COMMON SENSE".... like 1. color of black box in aeroplane (last year), pick odd one out, and many more, if u ll just keep ur ears and eyes open in ur DAILY WORLD, you ll never miss this mark !!.... if u ll simple look it the common sense way... I am sure u ll get 10. don put more than 15 mins on GK. Its a waste of your most precious 2 and a half hours of your life !!

I hope it might have somewhat enlightened you up. For more insight on this particular thing, plz revert back !!

Priya

Hi RahulKishoreSingh(HP),

Well, For GK, There are basically two parts. One of which is the Static GK and the other is Current Affairs.
As far as Current Affairs is concerned, as has been told by Priya, a regular newspaper reading habit will make sure you will answer most of the questions.

W.R.T. the static part of the GK, please read the material supplied by any of the coaching institute. This should be more than enough for scoring a good score.

Apart from these, there are some pretty basic common sense questions which could make their way in.

All The Best.

Thats nice..I have one more query(forgive me for being naive)
Is GK, like any other section?..I mean, if a person is strng in this section then he would score high marks in much less time!! which would propel his score , so doesnt it make sense to "prepare" for GK!!??

Hi Rahul,
Yes, GK is a value for time section. You need to take advantage of this section.

It is essential for everyone to prepare even though you are not strong at it. Give it the same importance as that of Verbal / Quants, atleast the SNAP paper setters generally do it.

All The Best.

Hi,

Need some insights.
I am a fresher and have dropped this year to prepare for CAT and other exams.
Profile:
X: 81
XII: 88
B.com(h): 69

Best student of college for 2 years
Best student commerce Dept
Official compere of college
Organizer of almost every event that happened in College
Member : Env Club
Core team member: Fashion Team

A couple of Projects and won a few debates and all that jazz.
Was more inclined towards event management so participation in debates and other apparently "Intellectual" activities was limited.

Shall be giving CA level 1 this December, but I am not sure if the results of the exam will be out by the time I fill in the form for SCM.

Now, I am aware that SCMHRD doesn't have any specific cut off or anything. From what I know(and I might be wrong) that last to last year few people with a score of 64 but with good/decent/excellent profiles were given calls.

The question is,
1. With this kind of profile, where do I stand?
2. What score is like an absolute must to get a call.

I understand that questions like these have been asked multiple times, yet please see if you could be of any help.

Hi fellow puy,
Well as you must have read in the earlier posts, the SCMHRD call is completely profile based, with the SNAP score being just one of the considerations. But having said this, a blanket call is given out every year, as you rightly mentioned. For instance, last year the GD/PI call was made to anyone who scored above 81.25, irrespective of the profile.

But I would suggest that this number should not be something you go by, since this cutoff will definately change this year based on the difficulty level of the paper. Hence my advice is, chill out about your profile as of now (which seems to be pretty decent as far as i can see ) and just worry about doing really really well in your SNAP.. Buckle up for that!!

Hi,
I shall be passing out this year, and I wish to pursue an MBA from SCMHRD (if they take me of course ). My question is this:

SCMHRD is mainly known for its HR profiles. So how good is the college for an MBA aspirant who wishes to specialize in other fields? Do the others get good profiles? How are the faculty?

I am hoping this should help a lot of confused souls like me..

Hi mhtsharma89,

As you probably know, SCMHRD offers specializations in 4 main fields - HR, marketing, finance and operations. Although we are known for our HR program, its not at all true that the other specializations are not equally good. If you look at our placement stats, even in times of recession we have had 100% placements across all specializations. We've also attained recognition in national and international events and competitions in specializations apart from HR.

You can check the details of placements and other awards on - Placements Record Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD)
Congrats !! SCMHRD stands 1st in the world

Also, if you notice our batch profiles each year, there are maximum number of marketing and finance students, as compared to HR.

As far as the faculty is concerned, i can tell you from personal experience that they are some of the best teachers i've ever been taught by. A lot of the subjects are taken by industry experts and guests who have had years of experience in their respective fields and are truly brilliant. So don't worry if you want to specialize in something besides HR

Hope that helps!
Take care and stay strong in your preparations
