Hi.i am a fresh commerce grad.out of the 12 colleges under SNAP I had to rule out 4 because i didn't satisfy the elgibilty criteria(engineering graduates and/experienced candidates).so i'm left with SIBM-Pune and bangalore,SCMHRD,SIMC,SIMS,SITM,SIHS,Symbiosis institute of geoinformatics where it says that all graduates are eligible.do any of these institutes make profile based calls like SPJIMR?do a good number of freshers manage to get in?what were the overall and sectional cutoffs for the above institutes for snap 08?

Hey Manjushaa,

SCMHRD is perhaps the only college from the list that you mentioned that gives a profile based call. We at SCMHRD use many criteria apart from the SNAP score to give GD/PI calls. Some of these criteria are academics, past work ex, extra-curriculars, overall profile, etc. As a result, there is no hard-and-fast SNAP score cutoff.

And yes we do a have a very healthy ratio of freshers in our batch. So you need not worry about the same. Just concentrate on your SNAP preparation and leave the rest to us.

As far as cutoffs are concerned you can visit the previous year's threads or the websites of various career coaching institutes to get the overall picture.....hope this helps

Hello,

As SNAP 09 is within striking range now Lets discuss about how to prepare and get ready for the ultimate challenge.

It may be too much to ask, but again no harm in asking ..

We would be so grateful if both of you "Bhargav" and "Sankalp" can share your success stories, as when you really started preparing for your SNAP, your aim was SNAP or CAT and which area you focussed upon, your exact strategy for cracking the SNAP. What scores you were expecting and how much you got?
How you prepare for GD/PI, and how was your experience in GD/PI rounds?

This will give us a minimum aim to reach & ultimately a platform to look upon.

If other seniors can also share somethings, it will be an icing on the cake.

Regards,
Rajat

Please note: I would feel good if you will call me by my name and not by my username

Hi Rajat....

Initially thru my research i shortlisted my top 10-12 colleges and then took up exams accordingly. CAT and SNAP were among that. I did sufficiently well in both of 'em (98.5 %ile in CAT) and 90 marks in SNAP.

According to me if you get your basic fundamentals (quant and grammer) in place, it will help u in all the competitive exams. But remember u need different strategies for both SNAP and CAT. Take as many mocks as possible. That really helps.... The preparation for every individual differs, as everyone has different strengths and weaknesses. You plan according to that.....

You concentrate on SNAP right now and dont worry about the GD/PI process. Its not the right time yet to worry about that.....

We'll be on this thread throughout the year to help you out.... ATB...

Hey,
Thank u so much all of you for your replies and questions.

Came here after a long time and found the thread which I was looking for ages.

Can someone please shed some light on what to prepare for LR as this is the only portion which comes for (60 marks) rest all are 40 marks I guess. I know it can change but LR is more important

Can someone please suggest what topics to study and which book to refer from.
And also there are no dedicated threads for SIIB, just wanted to know the placement scenario of SIIB and SCMHRD !!

Priya

Hi Priya,

Yeah as you have said LR is the section where one can maximise his/her score the most.Since each question carries two marks you should concentrate on this part.

Now as you are aware the basic preparation for logic is to solve and understand the core concepts. As a next step, you could start working with Shankuntala Devi(problems involving logic) and try solving Su-Doku. Though sudoku dosnt directly help in exam, it builds a line of thought. These steps help you with Mathematical Reasoning and Logical Reasoning( Easy - Moderate) which form a major chunk of the LR section.

The other areas you might look into are Coding Decoding, Sequences & Series(Easy - Moderate), and Set theory(Easy).

Now as far as placements records of SIIB is concerned, we cannot comment on it as comparing colleges is not fit to be put up on a public forum.

For SCMHRD placements, please visit
Placements Record Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD)

Dear Aspirant,

Preparation for any exam should not have a just on one subject, but on the overall exam. The previous years trend has shown that LR has most of the 2 mark questions, but to bring to your notice, last year there were 2 mark questions in QA as well as English. So please dont give too much attention on LR only just because it had 2 mark questions.
You never know, if this year they plan to have 2 markers in QA or English. So focus on all the aspects of cracking an exam and not just one.

All the best

Hiii,

You are absolutely right, I will look at the overall picture only. But, by that message what I meant was that which books to refer, what are the topics that one should give MORE importance too, I know everything commands respect, but there are some topics which are liked by some exam-setters the most

Just needed to know how to prepare for LDI as it comes for greater marks, uncertainty is always there, but I am a little weak in this subject, so just want to attempt more and build up my accuracy too.
