Re: The Official SCMHRD Admissions 2010-12 thread!! - 05-11-2009, 09:42 PM

First of all thank u soo much for making this thread, i have been searching for it quite a long now,
there are 2 queries that i have as of now :-

1st :- I read somewhere that Snap papers are set somewhere in September,is it true?? does that meaning having general awareness after that would be of no use?? plz help me wid this query as soon as possible as i have just started rating on present General Happenings? Also i want to know exact or most probable topics for static General Awareness?

2nd:- Is the pattern from last years paper (Snap-200 fixed i.e 135 questions for 190 marks fixed or there can b a change like 160 questions?? Also,is it fixed that we will have all questions of Logical Reasoning for 2 marks like last year or can it change, i sorry if i repeated any question but i read the same thing at some source.

Your replies will help and guide a lot, thankx in advance....

So is there any suggestions on what would be the cut off difference between SIBM(Most wanted) and SCMHRD(second most wanted?) I am not really interested in any other Symbiosis Institutes..Though I am inclined towards applying to SIIB.

IF anyone has any suggestions for improving speed and accuracy in a race like SNAP do, mention it. Currently, I am
*Preparing for CAT rigourously
*reading papers
*Catching up with the sports news using sportstars
*Learning a little gyaan on Share trading for my interview
There s no TV in my flat
Would that be all? Is there anything am missing?
Hi,
As i have said, we dont have a cut-off for profile based calls. And as far as cut-offs of other colleges are concerned, i would refrain from talking about that but you should be able to get it quite easily online.

From what you said, your preparations look to be on course. just add one more thing. For the GK section, there are 2 parts, the current affairs part and the static one.

Reading Newspapers should sufficiently help in the current affairs part, for the static area, please read through the GK material provided by any of the coaching institutes. That should Suffice.

All the Best.

Dear seniors

Thanks for opening this so useful thread.
i have few queries . I hope you ans them .

1 . I have been following the college website for long. I am not able to locate the online admission link on the webiste. The site says that the application process starts in end October , but i haven't seen the app link on the site till now. Am i missing something here or the process hasn't started yet.

2 . Some of my friends told me that SCMHRD is good for HR only. Is this true? How is the industry perception for other MBA programs (finance forr particular).

3 . As the application process is not yet started , would the last day of application be extended ?

Thanks

Aayush

SNAP has evolved over the years and the verbal section now contains the following 4 major sub-sections:
  • RC
  • Vocab-based questions (analogy, synonyms, antonyms, multiple usage)
  • Para-jumbles
  • Grammer & Usage (parts of speech, pronouns, idioms, passive voice)
REMEMBER: This might not be an exhaustive list of topics for the verbal section in SNAP, but this covers most of it.

For preparation of RCs, please read 1 newspaper daily (end-to-end) especially editorials and a business magazine. Practice a lot of para-jumbles. If possible also go through a basic grammer book (Wren & Martin is one i can suggest).

Regarding the sectional-cutoffs, there are no explicit sectional cut-offs but its preferable to have a balanced score across all sections and a high overall score. And we at SCMHRD give out call based on your overall profile and not just SNAP score.

At-least for this year there are absolutely no plans to conduct the SNAP online. So dont worry...just concentrate on your SNAP preparation

P.S. Puys....Dont hesitate to ask your queries, however small (no doubt/query according to us is small/irrelevant) they might be...
Hi Bhargav,

I have a query regarding scmhrd's profile selection.
You see I have a gap of one year in my profile from 2008 to 2009 owing to the fact that I had left a call centre in Aug 2008(IBM) and gave only MAT on DEC 2008 cause I wasnt too sure if I had it in me to crack the other exams (hadn't been in touch with studies)

Though I never wanted to go for any of the MAT institutes you see...I managed to get 97 percentile.

Well to make a long story short I missed the boat when it came to 2008 admissions.

So keeping this in mind will it be worth it if I give scmhrd a shot, I mean are gaps in profile considered?

I really want to do an MBA in HR from SCMHRD.

Can you provide some inputs?

@adirash: I did the payment for snap and sibm pune at the same time.(1500+1000=2500)
In this case, you need not pay for sibm pune separately as you have already made the payment. But you have to apply for sibm pune.
Once I made the payment, I received a mail requesting to complete the sibm pune application. It is the same like any other college application. (Name, Education details, Work ex, etc..)
Hope this helps. ATB

Re: The Official SCMHRD Admissions 2010-12 thread!! - 14-11-2009, 01:53 AM

Hello!

The 2010-2012 admission link on the website is now visible. However the admission page can be opened only on Internet Explorer..
For some strange reason the page fails to load on the browser. (I'm using IE 8 btw)
Clearing the cache doesn't seem to help as well.. Is anyone else facing a similar problem?

Can someone help?
