New year, new start. The SNAP date is out - 20th Dec, 09 (not officially but on SIBM site only) so lets get cracking. Now I've read all about the course, campus, entrance on PG/orkut communities from the previous batches. Seen some aspirants take role of the guiding seniors - lets hope the same happens with us

Seniors, some help please segregate the myth from fact:
1.What score is good enough? (Myth: 39+, good eng score)
2. How imp are references? (Myth: Pretty important in the next rounds - from media personalities in the main stream)
This one's quite hazy as to corporate or freelancers, ranging in which fields, etc - plz clarify
3. What kind of home assignments can we expect? (No one's spilling the beans on this one - i mean c'mon don't tell us the answers, just the questions will do )
4. Residential course/find your own place? ( The website doesn't say anything about a residential course, but some of the older posts mention that)
5. How're the placement like? Not just in terms of pay packages but the quality of jobs being offered. Read up that the director of the course had mailed the aspirants the norm packages are 2.0 - 2.5 lacs.

These are a few questions to start with. Peers, please add.

My Xth marks are 83
XIIth:72

I hav 30 months experience in IT as a s\w developer.
Coming to the point,,prep have started now n have heard a lot abt SIMC.
I wanna change my job,,,was reading the posts abt SIMC,,,few depressing,few encouraging.
Well, m not worried abt d initial package,but can some1 tell me whethr I can switch from IT to Comm,as SIMC offers Mass Comm.M I eligible?

I am really interested in Media n Adv n Comm,,,but as d fate f maxo Engg,I landed in2 It...now wanna come out.

I can see many experienced ppl on this thread,,,,,n ofcourse u must hav herd a lt f stories like mine b4..

So kindly Help asap.

hello, i`m a fresh grad wit my degree in telecomm engineering.. .... i`m interested in pursuing a mba degree in media and communications....what would i need to achieve ( in terms of scores) to apply for comm management in simc also will they be looking for work exp and exp in the field of media cos i have none....... also how are the placements.... the site states 100% placement ...... but this usually is never true.....thanks alot this forum has already helped wit alot o info.... would lik to know more though
