I would like to share my views on this debate. . well if you think what sells.. it is the Perception or the Brand for that matter. What is the difference between a Student coming out of XLRI regular courses and another Student who had succesfully cleared the Correspondence course offered by XLRI (considering the student is completely honest).. The difference is that the student who studied on his/ her own deserves more credit than the one who studied in a classroom.. where he had fellow students and professors to look for inputs and development (ofcourse interacting with others induces a personality development, which cannot be achieved if one is on his own).
However, the hard reality is that this correspondence degree would not sell much in compared to a degree from a regular course. Because the perception amongst the buyers (HR of comapnies) is that regular students are more capable and hence more acceptable...
So the only market where this correspondence degree will sell is one's own company, where people are already aware of your capabilities. So, knowledge of business is a Value addition.
Again, remember every company needs to hire managers from reputed management institutes as a policy. The primary reason can be that it does require a presentable profile when a company is trying to sell itself to its client's and earn business. Again it is just the game of perception..
So when you decide and aim to do something, please remember you should use your Logic to understand others perception and NOT build your own perception first and use logic to justify the same.
Hope buddy i was not too incomprehensible.
