@ayan

The batch of 2009-11 has a good mix of experienced & freshers....i dont hv the exact figures but its approx 50-50 i.e. 50 % work ex n 50% freshers.
in case of work-exp......a good number of students have around 2-3 years of work-ex

so competition is tough out here

let us know if theres ny other doubts

Hi Rahul,

At the outset, let me thank you for your wonderful posts. I have read your posts in other threads & they were very enlightening.I am a comp engg. & have worked as a java programmer for 2.6 years and presently I am working as a Sr. Business Analyst/BD Exe. for 6 months. I am interested in enhancing my BA profile. Which course do you suggest for this : ITBM or Systems. Could you also please enlighten about the profile of the students once they leave SCIT

Thanks,
David

Hi David. Thanks for your word appreciation. Well you told that you working as BA/BD Exe...I would like to know more that whether you working more towards BD side or inclined more on BA side..once I am clear on that..then only I would be in a better situation to comment on your query. Once a student leaves SCIT..it depends that from what spec you did your Masters..e.g students leaving from Systems normally aim for roles like BA, Business Process analyst, BPM, Systems analyst, techno consultant etc. These roles are like niche ones for systems..so it "DEPENDS"...so would like you to refine your query a bit..

thanks

Keep rocking

Hi Rahul,
Thanks for replying to my post. Well, after working as a java programmer for 2.6 years, I had worked for 6 months as a Business Development specialist in an IT firm where I was also involved in system analysis, but predominantly I was into selling their IT products. However, I was more inclined to work as a business analyst/system analyst so I joined a new company where my profile is more of a BA than a BD(more than 80% BA work). I am more interested in enhancing my profile as a BA. Can you please guide me as to which of ITBM or Systems would be better in enhancing my profile as a BA. Also please let me know the kind of profiles ITBM as well as System grads get into?

Re: SCIT Aspirants for 2010-2012 batch - 04-08-2009, 11:46 PM

My query is in similar lines as that of David. I have 3 years of development exp in Java , but of late had been working as a Data Analyst. I am looking forward to leverage this profile and launch a career as Business Analyst.

Any of you at SCIT, could you please map the profiles of the students with the the 4 departments you have at SCIT ? This is just to gain an insight and zero in on a particular department to align to the objectives I have in my mind with regard to doing an MBA from SCIT.

Thanks in advance !

@David,
You can get a BA profile in either of the 2 streams i.e ITBM or Sys....In case of ITBM, a lot of profiles for market research and pre-sales are also received....possible career options for all streams have been given below

@David & Ayan & All
Career options in SCIT in each stream

Possible Careers in ITBM(IT Business and Management) are marketing, business development, functional consulting, project management, customer relationship, process management and such other portfolios within IT and related businesses.

Possible careers in Systems would be Business Process Analysis, Systems Analysis, Systems Design, Solution Architecture, Software Quality, Software Testing, Techno-commercial Analysis for customized software leading to potential positions such as Project Leader/Manager, Enterprise Systems Manager, CIO, IT Managers etc. although some of them begin with software development.

Possible Careers in ISS(Information Systems & Security) : With its unique focus on information flow, risk & security management the IT industry & Consultancy Firms offer a range of opportunities in this emerging market as every enterprise needs to secure its systems whether manual or computerized. This new phenomenon calls for a large number of professionals appropriately trained and with good understanding of business & technology....in short iss would give you profiles like security analyst,compliance expert, IT consultant, etc

Possible Careers in NITI(Networks & IT Infrastructure) would be to take a leadership position in a career of choice in Design & Engineering, Network operations & Support services, Consulting Services, Information Security, Auditing & Converged Networks.
