I am sure most people at PG are still too busy fine tuning their strategies for CAT, however I am guessing there would be a few like me who are not writing CAT but other exams like SNAP, CET etc.

So calling all those people to pool in their prep strategies who are going for SNAP or CET.

From my part ....
After analyzing last years paper
IN QUANT
It seems all topics need to be brushed up. But I have a specific question in hand, and I am hoping someone can answer it for me...
Is it safe to grasp the basic formulas of chapters like Permutation & Combination, Probability for SNAP? Because it is getting really confusing for me to understand most of the "Important Results" listed in Arun Sharma.

Would be delighted to receive a reply.

Different colleges under symbiosis have different cut offs for GD & PI.

SIBM (Pune),(Bangalore) usually have a higher cut off in the range of 85-90/180.

SCMHRD gives out profile based calls so if you have good acads, extra curriculars and work-ex then you can manage to bag a call with even 70/180.

Comparing two B-Schools on PG is not allowed so you have to go to the respective sites of SIBM Pune or Bangalore to make your own decision.

Otherwise you can do a little research in PG Forums for the threads dedicated to each B-School that should give you a fair idea.

Use these threads...

I donot think calls are given out on the basis of specializations. You have to decide upon that after the first year.

Puys correct me if I am wrong!!
Is there really a separate cut off for different specialization?

@katrinaoz777
As far as mugging is concerned, its more advisable that u implement what u have studied(or mugged as the case be).. U should know how to use those formulae because in P&C & Probability there are various questions where approach matters most rather than knowing the formulae...
So, rather u should practise more number of questn which will boost ur confidence in P&C... n even u face problem the best way is to start with any Maths book of class 11th(I think R.D.Sharma is the gud one ) and build ur concepts first.....

Best of luck...!!

Can the seniors throw some much needed light on this issue, as to whether poor evaluation is a regular occurance, or it happened unfortunately in my year...

Thanks in Advance!!!
hey dude
i appeared for snap last year as well as d year b4 it....first it showed my score as 74...then after reval it was 83....i gt calls for SCMHRD n SIBM-P.....thought it was more of a hogwash and noone wud be selectd frm d new list....but i gt thru....n later found out that many had gt thru from d second list as well....wat hpnd last year was a one off incident....hope it wont happen again....the mess happnd when symbi allwd us to carry home d ques papers(it was d first time eva)...d year b4 tat they did nt allow us to carry d papers n noone complained officially to the authorities like tis year...i have heard ppl complainin bout marks discrepancies in NMAT as well...but they cannot protest like tis cause they do not have d ques papers to calculate their marks and compare.....

Dude,I have experienced it in 2007 and 2008.Both the times, there was a huge difference in expected and actual marks. And all of us thought that we wud boycott snap next year. But no one actually does. After all its ur career that matters and SIBM is gud enuf to give ur career a kickstart. And symbii has a brand name(Though a bad one)...So its upto you and more importantly, unfair marking is for everyone and not only for U.I wud say go ahead and rest upto u.
Best of luck

jus a suggestion( not an advice!!)
DO APPEAR FOR CAT......its an eye opener....no matter hw many mock CAT's u hav given, nthin beats the actual CAT....u gt a gud idea hw deep ur i n d mess....sumtimes u perform terribly in CAT, gt terrified, n then u work really hard for SNAP etc. n u gt thru.......happnd wit me....many of my friends made the same mistake last year...they didnt give CAT cause their mock scores were pathetic or they thought they wud lose confidence if they perform badly in CAT n end up messing up d other xams....they dont undsntd tat tis is d main part of the game!!!... who can tackle this problem is the winner... temme sumthin...wat is d use of this superficial confidence u hav created in ur own mind jus to comfort urself??....wont help u....work hard...go 4 it...atb

There r lotsa motivating experiences of seniors on PG...do read them..

As far as I know(Read somewhere in PG itself) only SIBM P has sectional cut off.

don't worry about the GK stuff , the cutoff for GK was 7.5 out of 40 for Sibm-P
Reading newspapers regularly & subscribing to sites like General Knowledge Today will help alot for GK

cheers
