Wud like to add my two cents. I have been thru all that whatever u r feeling now long time back..I wrote CAT for the first time when I was in my final year..it was CAT 2004..being my first attempt I gave it my best shot..I only wanted to enter the hallowed portals Of IIM's..so didnt apply anyplace else..got a campus offer in one of the IT biggies and joined that company thinking that I wud prepare simultaneously..but it simply didnt happen..With good money coming in, I became kind of complacent and that killer instinct was gone.I didnt even appear for CAT the next year.The number of aspirants grew from 1.2 lakhs in 2004 to close to 3 lakh in 2008. I was working so I cud never put in the right kind of hardwork that was required..And because mba was something that was so close to my heart, I felt that void within months after joining..And now, I am so keen on taking up an MQ seat, if NM offers me one.
In case you want to give it another try, please bear in mind that extraordinary results require extraordinary hardwork. The results wont change much next year until u do something really different. Dont ever let that do or die attitude take a backseat. Cz the ppl who will appear next year will be much smarter(I have experienced it and sometimes i felt like a grandma while appearing for mba exams

)
And in case you wanna join this year, be sure to give in your 100 percent to the 2 years of b school. Being a fresher and taking a loan of close to 15 lacs can be a tuf call and a lot of onus lies on u to bag a decent package after completion of the course so that u may comfortably pay off the loan.
My advice to you...Sit back..compare all pros and cons..Analyse ur CAT score and strategy..And see if u can improve upon it. And can u ensure to put in extra hardwork. And then take a sound decision.
(p.S.- I know I didnt provide any feasible solution but cudnt stop myself from writing my autobiography after reading ur abt ur dilemma. do think a lot before you take a decision. The final call you have to take,ultimately )
