Can anybody thru MBA Banking please tell me as to when the regular class start as they hvnt taken out the MQ list yet and as mentioned in their impt dates chart it says :6th july...
So wanted to confirm the exact date...

Hey guys,
Just an Update...for MBA Banking.. I guess till now atleast 18-20 confirmed admissions has been done..this news is from my cousin who has taken up the course.....
So less no.of seats left approx 5 merit seats and also the management quota list may come out after 6th.

Finally about MBA Banking placements , as per the Seniors at NMIMS, all were placed in banking with 1 international placements with protiviti and others with a 7lpa Average ranging from 4.85 to 9.5 with banks like citibank, db, icici and others PSU,s like Bank of Baroda,union bank sbi and some more .Tats wat my cousin told me.Yeah he also said, there would be some changes in curriculum where students will get hands on expereince on certain banking softwares..
Also, Even I had got a call but dint take it..however now I feel i cud have taken it...but thats fine have gmat in my mind right now as well as job has a Bond ...so its Kool....

exactly.shanks,
that is the difference,because since you are picking up a sectorial program your stream gets specified while its not so when you go for other core branches.And in such cases your growth and post increment also gets restricted.

hello think big,
as ur profile name think big,if u really want to go for big then i shud suggest u not to pick up mba banking course coz it being a sectoral course has very limited growth and its not just about the placements because those you can get from any mba college watsoever and wherever,but the thing or the factor considered here is growth and limitations and so according to that i shud suggest you to keep ur other options open and go for then if u have any and since u are saying u have a well settled business then u shud go for it i guess.

And to tell you all,my sister has passed out of nmims last year(core batches).she told me that the placements have been declared wrong.rather if u go to the core of the matter and search then there were just 60 % placements and many have been thrown out of icici banks and now its difficult for them to find a job coz of this sectorial branch.

Pulkit Puy,

As per Convention followed in NMIMS ( my observation of last year + this year ) MQ seats are filled on the merit rank basis ( written exam marks + GD marks + PI marks + work ex marks = final merit rank).

Since this year no merit rank was given, nothing can be said for sure for exact procedure.

I would suggest you to go to admission department of NMIMS personally and find out if these is some other way out as u had taken the NMAT on dec-28, If there would be no candidates in waiting list of management quota, they might allot the seat to you.

Well I just saw the above posts by @anupam bharadwaj..
regarding Limiting the Growth Opportunities once u get into Sectoral Program, I wud say I disagree to that...as shanks said the only difference here is that u choose ur field of specialization in the 1st year rather then in 2nd year as other core students...see if u have decided ur career to be in finance and banking course this is the best course ever....and if u feel about marketing then u shudnt even think about it .....also if u take examples like a spjain dubai which offers 1 year Mba S.P.Jain Center of Management - Dubai . Singapore and has super specialization in Banking Management S.P.Jain Center of Management - Dubai . Singapore and other super specializations its all kool....
I would suggest it as a simple thing....if u into core and are sure to take finance and banking as ur elective and see ur career in the banking industry then ur equivalent to a guy who has taken up banking in 1st year and he also sees his / her career in the banking industry as simple as that...
Thats just what I can analyse and also u have options like getting into risk management , equity research and investment banking always open by doing a various certi's like frm, financial certifications cfa cfp etc...and am plannin for it right now itself.....

@anupam....Well buddy i guess it may be your personal opinion...so tats also kool.....if u dont mind may i know 1 thing...u seem to be totally against the course donno y...I feel are u making way to ur waiting list so that guys do not take up the course and u get into .....

btw may i know ur nmat score and r u in waiting list in banking ...
also wats ur profile i mean work exp etc...etc...if at all u wanna tell.....
P.S.: No hard feelings meant...so do take it in the right spirit....I have one of my relatives as faculty at NMIMS...and yeah she is directly involved into the admin departments..so its jus for information I wanna know coz its not good to say bad about something unless u r 100% sure about it....
also i have alot of respect for NMIMS and other B schools and its courses so do put in some facts if ur saying something about any institute....
