I am a fresher going yo join in an MBA course. Is it a fact thet however hard I work, its gonna be a disadvantage for me?
Does it really make sense to leave a decent convert and do some work, will that matter on how I perform in the course and aftre it?

no it doesnt..
as i told u...except for IT and consulting firms, being a fresher does not matter..
ur profile includes ur acads,extra currics, engg/grad internship n all...which is wt firms look for..
work hard here and u can easily grab the better bets on campus

Hi Guys,
I made it to IIFT Kolkata..I got the letter telling me to pay the amount by 20th may today..This was my lone call and given the fact that I am a fresher and the recession there is a high probability I might join it.

@ seniors... Is the letter the notification for confirmed admission or is it something else?Because when I called up on the 1st the gentleman on the other end said my name was not there and today I got the letter offering me admission?

Friends, i am out of station in pune and today only got information that a letter from IIFT is recieved at my last official company residence in faridabad, about provisional admission to iift kolkata. It would be great help if someone please post the gist of content details of the letter, viz value of dd, documents etc. Thanks.

The main points are:
The 1st instalment is of Rs 168250 to be paid through DD.The DD has to reach IIFT-D within 20th may else offer stands withdrawn.
For Program registration bachelor degree certificate is required.The dates will be intimated later.
Hostel fees is 42000/yr.The amount is to be paid at the time of joining the program.
I guess the above points are the most important.The letter also contains a personal details form and an anti-ragging form which are to be sent along with DD.Medical fitness certificate is also required..

It is funny how we read into what someone has written rather than just read what was given/ The post was addressed PRIMARILY to folks WITH work ex with freshers being alluded to in an aside. That said: I had already mentioned that I fault the Indian system and not the applicants for the current scenario, and we can argue till the cows come home about the virtues of being a fresher or a seasoned professional, with no productive conclusions coming of it since we are not in the seat of power to change the current admission policies, so let's leave it at that.

Now, I was not trying to start a panic attack amongst freshers when I made my earlier post as I am well aware, and please do not insult my intelligence by thinking otherwise, that freshers are admitted to MBA in India, get placed with excellent prospects and make a success of their lives. I never alluded otherwise. However, there are umpteen people who went to IIT, then an IIM right away, got placed in a great job, but in a downturn lost their job, and now scour the halls of Career Launcher, Career Forum, TIME or some other coaching institute training the next batch of like minded individuals. There is nothing wrong with teaching at a coaching centre, but I have a faint suspicion that when they were burning the midnight oil for the JEE and then CAT they did not envision landing up at CL, CF or TIME. It is purely my SUBJECTIVE opinion that perhaps if they had worked prior to an MBA they may have had the drive or maturity to do something more productive in life like a start up or something. Anyway, I fear I am treading on thin ice here so should stop, as I am not God and do not know each person's individual circumstances. Who is John Galt?

So FRESHERS please do not panic. For decades our MBA system in India has absorbed you, and will continue to do so with plum jobs at the end of 2 years. Personally, I am glad that I have worked prior to an MBA as I have learnt a lot about myself over the years.
