Re: Good Mat Institutes - 03-06-2004, 03:42 PM

I actually did some research on MAT last year so i have some idea. First of all sorry to dissapoint you but i could not find a single good institute under MAT. But, a few okay types are:

1.SCMS cochin
2.MS ramaiah,bangalore
3.ALLIANCE
4.IIRM,manasarover
5.BIMTECH
6.EMPI

Welingkars/amity are the best among the group

I might have missed an odd one or two but let me say it again ... none of these institutes are even comparable to the good ones under CAT/XAT/ATMA.... so please be wary of these inst.. and better go for them only if u have to....

Hi

The notification for MAT has come today in Delhi's Education Times (TOI). I want to know how good is Xavier's Inst. of Social Service(XISS) and Sharda Srinegri?

well sharda shingeri is D grade institute and regarding XISS it is also maximum C graded only thing in its favor is Xaviers name attached to it but as such it is not offering a conventional mba course it is having specialised mba course

now regarding other MBA colleges in MAT

well Alliance Business Academy is having decent placements in the range og 14,000 average ... campus placements r there so guess it also depends on the individual

now their campus is pretty good i have seen it personally and i have one friend studying there and one friend who went to the GD/PI round there but was rejected infact their GD/PI round is pretty hard batches r of abt 40 in which 6-7 people r selected

ANd in delhi Birla Institute of management is there then IILM is there iilm has now started taking mat scores 80% is their cut off both of these r B- or C grade colleges which ever way u take.

placements r there ...

BIMTECH is abt 12,000 i went to BIMTECH when their placement week was going on

Birla has shifted to Noida recently

AMity's PGDBM course is also a good one

-----------cheers--------------

I gave the 5th september 2004 MAT and got 93.4 percentile, though it was just to gauge where I stand--infact i start preparing for CAT after I gave MAT. Maths took a toll on me--with 44percentile on maths--i knew that its hard days ahead for me and it still is going the same.I;ve seen lotsa guys scoring above 99percentile and so i know am not in a good position for maths of CAT.I'll give my best though!
Anywyas, about the colleges--just to get info--anybody knows about IIMT,Pune? thats the only insti that i dunno and i got gd-pi call from.Wellingkar's didnt gave a call--the only real good institute in the MAT score taking institutes. There were lots of vidya bhawans--one from kolkata and i dont remember the others--anyone knowing about them?

Welingkars did not participated in Sept MAT that is why they did not gave call, otherwise they called people even with 0%ile for the first stage.

As far as the good institutes in MAT are concerned, My list is :

1- Welingkars, Mumbai
2- Amity, Noida
3- Bimtech, Noida(I am in favour becoz it has shifted to new campus and it has some good faculty)
4- IILM,(only delhi campus)
5- SCMS, Cochin
6- Alliance, Bangalore
7- M S Ramaiah, Bangalore
8- Christ, Bangalore

After this list if u opt for any other B school in MAT I believe u r opting for suicide.
Cheers

If Ur Objective is Just to do an MBA/PGDBM equivalent, then any MAT insti will suffice, But else apart from Amity and Welingkar(Lots of media noise), no point in going anywhere else...
