Dear MBA aspirant,
This is for your information incase you haven't got into a
management institute
of your choice for the academic session 2004-06. If you are still
looking for a
good institute you may like to read on.
Till 27th April, 04, I was heading SCMHRD (Symbiosis Centre for
Management &
HRD). From concept to what it is today-from 32 applicants in 1993 to
21000
applicants in 2004-the unique processes, approaches, curriculum & co-
curriculars
and 100% placement etc. stand testimony to my vision, mission and
efforts,
assisted by a team of colleagues. It is also proof of a reality that
one can be
truthful, value driven and yet hugely successful in the murky world
of today.
Unfortunately, before I could finish my architectural role of
creating a
globally respected "Leadership Gurukulam", I had to part for
reasons not known
to me.
On my departure, hundreds of my ex-students, who are Management
Trainees and
Managers to Top Executives today in India and abroad, have come
together and
persuaded me to start a new institute to fulfil the unfinished task
of creating
a "Leadership Gurukulam", so that the ideals, the ideology and the
processes
which have benefitted them immensely, do not go waste and also to
let hundreds
of future youngsters benefit from these. Accordingly with the
initiative and
active involvement of more than four hundred of my ex-students (who
are with
corporations all over India and abroad) we are starting an institute
in Pune.
Our objective is to create an institution of excellence-a model for
this
country.
On my leaving SCMHRD, I had and still have a dozen of re-employment
opportunities without I applying anywhere or stepping out of my
house. That too
when the fact of departure from SCMHRD is known only to a few
hundreds of my
ex-studens and friends. Not taking up any employment with higher
perks and pay
heeding to my inner voice and the spontaneous upsurge of my ex-
students, we are
starting the institute with a clear vision and mission. Probably
this is the
only instance where the ex-students of a teacher are putting their
efforts
together to create an institute for their teacher to carry on with
the work
towards its logical destination.
The name of the institute is "Sadhana Centre for Management &
Leadership
Development". 'Sadhana' denotes unflinching determination, devotion,
dedication,
discipline (self regulation and regimen), hard work and action. No
one can
achieve excellence without being truthful to oneself, as well. If
that journey
is through the path of dharma (righteousness) one is bound to excel.
Such a
person will become an inspiration for others. And that is
Leadership. Studying
merely for qualification and securing an employment is not
leadership. It is
just survival. A leader achieves what he/she wants to achieve. We
intent our
students to be leaders. SCMHRD's growth from zero to sixth in the
country in a
matter of eight years and the soaring success of its alumni stand
testimony to
this concept enunciated and practicalised by me through my team
under the banner
of Symbiosis.
We (I and my ex-students) are starting the institute in a small
facility of
10,000 sq.ft. area with all the necessary infrastructure including
digital
library in the educational heart of Pune city. Hostel (lodging)
accommodation is
available for 25-30 girl students, on campus. Accommodation close to
the campus,
for boys (and girl students if more than 30), can also be arranged.
The fee is kept at Rs. 1,20,000/- per annum per student for the
first year. It
will be 1,30,000/- for the second year. This fee include the cost of
uniforms,
text books, study materials (xerox copies), yoga, pranayama,
meditation,
workouts, outward bound training camps, outstation vipassana
meditation camp,
workshops, seminars, summer and final placement efforts and so on.
This does not
include boarding and lodging/hostel accommodation.
In case you are interested and have an intense desire to emerge as a
leader in
your own right and are determined to "shape" a future of your
choice, you may
like to apply to "Sadhana Centre for Management & Leadership

undertake a journey towards your excellence through its two year
full time PGDM
programme. The course will commence on 14th July 2004.

This will be an autonomous programme. This batch will be the
founding batch of a
great institution in the making. Will have specialisations in
Marketing,
Finance, HRM, Systems Architecture and Manufacturing & Operations
Management.
Our governance pattern itself will be a model where complete
transparency,
openness and student driven self managing teams as partners in
institution
building, will be integral aspects.
A few seats shall be reserved for children of NRIs and owners of
business and
children of employees sponsored by employer companies.
