My profile:
XAT %ile: 96.53
CAT %ile: 84
Workex: 30 Months (IT)
Acads: 65 - 75 %age
All the Candidates were made to sit in a single conference room and I sat on one end facing the 2 panelists!!!
No group discussion was held as the panelist thought there would be lot of shouting and chaos !!! Instead we had Essay Writing and the topic was
"Liberalization requires Management Trainees"!!!
I think this was biased as a day before candidates had got Slumdog Millionaire as the topic. Others had got topics such as Internet and Globalization which I perceive were easier to pen down your views upon. But as luck would have it I got this topic for writing essay!!!

Next we had Interviews where each candidate was called in the same room one by one. When my turn came, one of the panel members came out of the room and asked me to go in.

Me: Good Afternoon Sir!
P1: Good Afternoon! Plz take your seat.
(I pulled the chair and while handing over my file sat down.)
P1: So tell me something about yourself...
Me: Told about myself, where i belong to, my family, hobbies...
P1: (My hobby caught attention of the Panelist, he asked me some basic questions and I sailed through...)
(Meanwhile Second panel mameber enters and panelist1 introduces him to me, 2nd panelist also has some questions and they are answered...)
P2: So tell us something about your job
Me: told
P2: ok so why do you want to do MBA? (This question was asked from all the candidates!!!
Me: Told (They listened to me attentively)
P2: So you want to remain in the same line?
Me: (Wasn't I articulate enough?)
Yes told some extra points to be more clear...
Panelists seemed satisfied...
P2: So you have done your engg in electronics? Do you know what is a pacemaker?
Me:
The only thing I know about a pacemaker is that it is a medical device used for artificial functioning of heart...
P2: Can you explain its working...
Me: (Now there are hundreds of electronic devices available in the market and you surely cannot know the working of all)
No Sir I have no idea about its working...
P2: Can you tell us something about the latest technologies like the Nano Technology...
Me: Told (But it was more of gas and less content, I am not very satisfied)
P2: Do you have any other calls?
Me: No sir, this is the only call i have (I did not skip mentioning that i missed XIMB by .07%ile )
P2: what about CAT score?
Me: Told 84 %ile
P2: Ok Thanks a lot and all the best!
(Which means "you are a good for nothing fellow and we don't need you" the confirmation for which i received a few days back when i was not among the shortlisted candidates)

Anyways, will try again this year. with more energy and enthu...

Hi Monica,

Don't worry! We'll prepare again this year with more energy and get admission in a good college. GIM does not seem to have recognised our potential. Maybe there is something better in store for us. Work Hard and hope for the best! By the way, where do you stay in Chandigarh?

I also sympathize with you............
Even I faced a panel consisting of a Tharkee prof nd an oversmart bloke.......
Gave me all sorts of troubles..........cracking substandard jokes & silly comments.........add insulting language nd arrogant tone........
akin to ragging almost...........
yet put up with it thinking it to be 'STRESS Interview'
thought ma XAT score nd acads/work ex/essay will sail me through.......
but was kicked out
in the end turns out to b blessing in disguise........
converted better b school in home city itself...........
so its all GIM's loss to lose Managers like us............

CAT:95.71
XAT:97.50

Calls:IMT(G&N),FORE,LIBA,GIM,XIMB,KJSomaiya,Weling kar
Rejects:IMT-G ,FORE ,LIBA ,GIM ,XIMB
Converts:IMT-N,KJSomaiya
Awaited:Welingkar
