Re: Discussion on Shortlisting Criteria Used by B- Schools - 19-09-2009, 06:37 PM

HI..!
i have a query, its regarding my HSC percentage..!!
well, i scored exactly 48.2%, i know its very very less...but fact is that, i scored this..and now i don't have any excuse for this...I ll not say that i didn't prepared, i prepared but, dont know what went wrong...!!
now, after completing my GRAD...i again come to square one, i read CAT and other exam's bulletin thoroughly, and there is no such criteria these people are mentioning...m talking about (CAT, XAT, FMS, and few more similar this) they simply demanding our GRAD aggre, which I have of 70%..!!
10th - 69%
well, 'onestly, i feel i am going to suffer for this....
can any body please help me, if I scored a some decent %ile and at all i got a call from some good one...then how i should Justify them...!!
and plz let me know, are there any people who have such type of academics., and they are still enjoying a good status in some good college..!

Very confused...!
Thanks

Well....I will say dont worry abt all these things right now....give ur best shot at CAT and get a good percentile...yes there are profile based colleges, even some IIMs who will not call u..but thats not the end of road.....so many times it has been said on this thread that specially IIMC and MDI dont look for acads that much..but for that u need to have 99 + wid balanced sectionals...I know guys who have there 12th in 50s and they were in IIMC (passed out in 08 C batch) ...

So no need to worry...just focus on CAT...
All the best..

DoMS, IIT Madras admits candidates based on their JMET rank as well as the sectional cutoffs (rank around 1-1500). It also admits candidates based on their CAT score (around 97%ile with sectional cutoffs). Due weightage is given to pst acads and work-ex. We have a classmate with 93%ile CAT but with 5yrs of work-ex in Saudi Arabia.

u hv decent acads...they wont play any role in ur rejection...though u will also not b selected only on its basis...do well in gd/pi..dont worry, the acads wont create n issue
