NMAT 2008 and 2007.. An Insight -
28-12-2008, 01:06 PM
My attempts..
VA- 40
Quants - 55 + 5(guess work)
LR - 28 + 22 (guess work... was running short of time... :sad
The paper was tougher than previous year.
Verbal was confusing.. specially the Para Jumble.
Quants almost same as last year.
LR BIT difficult and confusing than last year.
My thoughts.... the cut-off will be less than 85 (last year's). Should be around 75-80..
My Expierence of last year NMAT(2007)
========================
No offense meant !!
Last year the cutoff was 85. I scored 88 and got a call for GD/PI. But finally couldn't convert . What I observed was, only people who scored around 100 marks in written could convert . NMIMS gave lot of weightage to written marks. 150 written + 30 GD/PI ( 10-gd, 10-pi and 10- work ex).On an average most of the people scored between 15-20 marks in GD/PI. I wonder where my Work-ex marks went... :-x . I scored 15 in GD/PI. The final calls were given to those who scored a total of around 114 marks (please correct me .. if I am wrong).

hi puys.................
gave nmat today.............
i felt it was an easy paper(but then its for everyone)
so the cut-offs are bound to be higher........
gave it for the first time so cant really compare with the earlier ones........
My attempts:
VA-40
QA&DI-49
LR-42
OA-131
Its a game of accuracy now........
lets see..the picture will get clearer when others pour in their attempts............
Satisfied with my attempts though............
Cheers....!!!!!

hii puys,
my overall attempts are:
VA:32
QA:50
ILR:45
TOTAL ATTEMPTS:127
iam banking on an accuracy of around 75%.
score could be around 95
expected cutoff could be on the similar lines of last year or a notch lesser due to the time consuming and calculation intensive nature of the questions.
cheers!!

Hi,
i agree with abhijit....its going to b tough to convert the call if one doesnt score ard 95-100 in this paper...even though cutoff may go as low as 85....NMIMS has to earn money by giving calls to more ppl...950 bucks is the fees fr applying after getting a call :P

The paper seemed real easy ... it seems that cutoffs are going to rise ..
my attempts approx
VA : 34
QA : 30+
LR : 40+
do u people think i stand any chance of getting a call with 80%+ accuracy .. ??
suffering from low latent inhibition
will soon convey abt my IQ ..

Re: [28-Dec-08] NMAT 2008: Paper Discussions -

My take on the paper.
Was fairly simple. Very much on lines of the last year's paper. No difference at all.
Attempts:
VA - 40/40
QA - 54/60
LR - 45/50
Total - 139/150 Attempts.
Yeah my attempts seem to be on a higher side. But I suffer from poor accuracy. Shud be around 70-75% accuracy level.
Take on cut offs: 88+
NMIMS gives out some 2.5 million calls :sarcastic: hence its difficult to convert calls if u barely manage to clear the cut offs. Hence, its very essential that one scores very heavily in the written test. As someone pointed out, a lot of weightage is given to written scores.
Hoping for some fortune this time!
Cheers!

Re: [28-Dec-08] NMAT 2008: Paper Discussions -
28-12-2008, 01:17 PM
My Attempts first of all
VA 40
QA 50+
ILR 40+
OA 130+
I have not given the last year NMAT but i expect the cut offs would be higher than last year's 85.
It could well be in the range of 90-95 to say the least.
SEctionals may go up for each
last year they were
VA 17
QDI 22
ILR 14
I expect VA and ILR to cross 20 each and for QA 25.
What say puys
A poll on the number of attempts shall be put up???

Do institutes come out with answer keys & analysis for NMAT?
Last year when was the NMAT written exam result declared?

As far as i now, last year the paper was held on 30th Dec and the results were out on 24th JAn though most people could view their results the next day due to faulty server.
