Re: Prepare with FMS 100 Percentiler - 06-01-2009, 09:02 AM

Hi seniors and fellow Puys,
Yesterday i wrote CL mock FMS.....and i noted following thing about it.......
1) it is very difficult to clear sectional cutoff for Verbal section (it was out of world for me) .
2) if you are not good at verbal then its very difficult to increase the overall score as well because if you see the time taken to solve a verabl question is almost half ( or even less ) compared to solve a quant or LR problem............

can someone please suggest some tips to increase the verbal score .........

regards,
Inder

hi bhai,
i also wrote it yesterday and totally agree with you on the very thing you have written above...
i followed the strategy of maximizing my score in QA and LR...
and hence ended up scoring 36 and 37 in verbal and RC with 70% accuracy...
i got a total of 321 marks...now the point is whether this strategy can be used in the actual paper or not...
comments are welcome, puys...

I feel that whether you are good or bad at verbal, just glance through all VA questions...sometimes there are easy ones hidden amongst the seemingly tough ones or some questions which can be solved from the given options/context (like in yest CL paper, the last set of around 10 questions)...

for the difficult vocab qs- one either knows them or not- guesses won't help (at least for me)...

that way, VA can be wrapped up in 15-20 min flat with a decent score of 50-60....

suggestions and comments, as always, are welcome

Hello Seniors,

Can you please guide me with how much marks should a person need to have to cross the 50%ile barrier. No doubt english is the toughest part of FMS paper and to make the condition worse there is different section of RC and english usage. As per the last year data if we get around 100 questions right we are in. I want to attempt just minimum no. of questions in eng. to attain 50%ile in it and maximize my score through quants and LR. Plz someone provide me with the last year figure of no. of questions attempted to cross 50%ile in eng. usage or RC.

TIA

Shivani

hi shivani...
nice to see you on this thread...
yaar even i am trying to find out the answer for the same question...
but i m unsuccessful till date...
i believe that 12-15 correct answers (with descent accuracy) in each of the RC and VA sections will land us in a safe zone...
still we'd like to hear from any of the experienced puys regarding the same...

i feel that most of the students want to maximize their scores in qa and lr. mostly, people wont waste a lot of time on rc as it is time taking and also accuracy levels are on the lower side for most of the people.
as far as 50%ile is concerned... there are 50000 students taking the test... so u need to be in the first 25000 in all the sections... i feel that 5-7 questions i.e. 20-28 marks will do it in rc and a aroun 22-30 in va will suffice.
this is totally my point of view which is based on my experiences in mocks...
i ll like to see more people making their point
