I fathom that the cut-off is around 340. But that's my guesstimate. Someone might say its 360. Someone, well, 220.
The point that i am trying to make is that don't predict/guess-work the cut-off. It can't be done. And its not relevant. Each year gets a different paper, with no relation WHATSOEVER with the previous years'.
Goes w/o saying, try and work out as many questions as possible. If you want a target, a safe target one would be to try and reach 100+ attempts.

I absolutely second Azotae on it. Sorry the MBA batch has been busy with our fest and all and thats why have been offline for long. But we assure you we would be available to answer all queries now. As far as the cut offs are concerned an attempt below 100 is flouting with danger. For lesser mortals like me (who did not score 100 percentile) an attempt of about 105-110 is safe

Hi everyone,
I really find FMS vocab really tough .
I have given GRE and also completed Barrons wordlist many times, but still find difficulty in getting those words right.
Are those words have some foreign roots, thats what I find .
I might recommend people to go through All about words especially its foreign words roots section and I also find analogies tough.
Regarding..Quant help me...how can some1 do 35 questions(minimum) in 30 minutes..I lack speed..
aLSO Reading comprehension is like a 3 page Novel..its too big..So what should be the strategy there.
And is there any sectional cut offs...then plz elaborate..
what can be the cut off for MMS course in FMS it might be lower..

Hi Azotae,
Can you give a rough idea about how many questions do we need to attempt in RC and VA just to clear the 50 percentile cutoff. In order to reach around 100 questions, as it appears the overall cutoff could be, we need to maximize our scores. And as QA, DI are my strong areas, I would like to spend more time there. At the same time RC/VA cutoff needs to be cleared.
Also, has FMS declared anywhere that sectional cutoof is 50 percentile or it is an educated guess going by last couple of years' trend?

Hi all,
I have few questions..This is the first time I am taking FMS,so pardon me for dumb questions
1.From the previous posts I gathered that VA and RC will be tougher than CAT.Can you suggest some practice materials for them?
2.The cut off seems to be around 340 which appears to be a mammoth score for me.340 means getting more than 80 questions correct which inturn means attempting around 100 questions.Suggest me some ways to improve my number of attempts in each section
3.The cutoff that some ppl are suggesting is 50perentile.I have a doubt here.Is that means that even if we get just 50 percentile in one section and overall score of 340,do we have chances. That means, is fms is all about maximizing score in the strong section
4.Based on previous year scores,Can you tell me wat score will fetch what percentile.
Thanks in advance
Merry Christmas to all.Let us all get what we fish for this season
All the best

Re: Prepare with FMS 100 Percentiler -

I think there is some confusion....
I am re-posting, what i wrote earlier..
Last year, people who attempted 75-80 (correct), got the call. But keep in mind the difficulty level of paper can vary. don't go to examination hall with any pre-conceived notion. For last three years, cut off has been going down.
About cut-off, my personal view is that never work against your body, in examination hall. If you are unable to attempt large number of questions, then BELIEVE it that paper is tough and others are also facing same problem. We generally go with a pre-conceived notion about cut-off and end up in a mess. Till last year FMS cut off was around 100 correct, but last year people got calls even at 75-80. So never work against your body capacity in examination and you will get through (this comes with a disclaimer that it is for someone who PREPARED for exam)
Now I will sum it up in bullet points:----
1. FMS Paper is getting tough since last three years.
2. Last year, people who got 75-80 (correct) questions got the interview calls. Please don't confuse it with 75-80 attempts.
3. Keep in mind the difficulty level of paper can vary. Don't go to examination hall with any pre-conceived notion about cut-off. Trying to attempt 110-115 in tough paper can be suicidal.
4. In the end all these are guesses. I respect different point of view of few other classmates. FMS aspirants can take their call based on their judgement.
Futher queries are welcome.
