Dear Piyush
Well the cutoff percentile last year for GIM was 90.01. The percentile is same for both work-ex and freshers.
There is a 10% weightage to work-ex in the final score (once you get a call for GD/PI). But to compensate Fresher's for the disadvantage, the college also gives 10% weightage to the academic performance..
So it always a level playing field.
Wishing you luck
P.S. I am also a fresher with no work-ex, so definately being a fresher is not a disadvantage Quote:

So it always a level playing field. | A person who does not have work-ex gets 0 out of 10 for not having work-ex. And, a person who has work-ex gets 0 out of 10 for academics, no matter how good his academics are. Is that what you mean, by any chance? Because that is the only way I can think of if you call it a 'level playing field'. Quote: |

What was your percentile, if one may ask? | no dude, you are reading way too much into the lines. work-ex is not a crime. you dont get 0 for academics if you have work ex. the point rahul was trying to make is that a guy with no work ex and with extra-ordinary academics can outdo someone with work ex and mediocre academics. Hi Guys,
Good to see some action on the admissions thread.
As far as work ex is concerned, well it does give you an advantage, make no mistake guys, it does matter.
But,
Not having work ex does not, mean that you cant get selected.
Yours Sincerely is a walking talking example having made it to GIM without a single minute of work ex...
So I have done some armchair research for you guys.
Approximately 35 to 40% of our batch are freshers. And considering the preference given in other schools, I feel this is a very encouraging figure for a fresher cos this increses your chances.
So Instead of sweating over the fact that I do not have work ex, better concentrate on hitting that magic figure of 93 %ile in XAT , you can worry about that later.
To all freshers,
Guys, I dont speak on behalf of GIM Admin, but every good B School tries to strike that balance, so I conjencture that NO LESS THAN 40 seats outta 120 will go to freshers...(Kindly check the same figures in other schools)...
so either u can burn up your blood worrying about lack of work ex...
or say WOW I have a shot at so many seat and give it your best...
If you make it, guys I can personally assure you you will be staring at two of the finest years of your life which you willcherish for the rest of your days on this planet....
Regards
Snape

Sherry has already answered the first part of your question. Regarding the second one. My XAT percentile was 97.46 perc.
Best of Luck

But keep one thing in mind along with XAT objective type you will have to do good in essay too, because XLRI and GIM considers essay too. XIMB on the flip side does not do so.

Guys first off all hv 2 admit dat GIM rocks! Was going through d thread 'life at GIM'.. And think student life der is too cool n happening.. Jus Wish i make it der dis yr..
Hv sum doubts seniors.. Hope 2 get it clear..
I finished my graduation in 2007 in computer application(bca) wid 59%
10th- 69%
12th- 66%
so in a way my academics are poor.. So wid these acads is it wise 2 apply 4 GIM?
Other thing is dat i live in pune n hv been helping my dad in his business 4 d past 6yrs.. So will dis account 2 workex? If yes den will it b considered at d same level wid guys having workex in sum mnc or any other company? I mean wil own business workex considered at par wid ppl having jobex in sum company?
Does GIM hv any christian or goan quota?
Regarding essay in xat.. Does essay writing in xat given extra time? I mean is essay writing included in d main paper and hv 2 b written in stipulated 2 hrs? Or after d main paper additional time is given 4 essay? ( i hope i made d last doubt clear)
And finally expected cutoffs dis yr and does gim considers sectional cutoffs? | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to al_coholic For This Useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
